Watching the ch5 documentary about this. Always liked to think there's something out there. But surely it would be dead by now?

Thoughts?

It's a load o shite made up to entice tourists.

BMW6 · 22/09/2023 22:07

No. Its a great money spinner for the area so there will be "sightings" now and then to keep the ££££££ coming

Mydpisgrumpierthanyours · 22/09/2023 22:12

I think there was or some massive fish mistaken for nessie but I think he died years ago. With todays technology surely we would of found him by now?

TheGhostofLoganRoy · 22/09/2023 23:12

I really, really want to.

I think there might well have been something decades ago (possibly some kind of giant eel). But I really want to believe!

ChristmasKraken · 22/09/2023 23:15

Of course, there's a whole family down there! You just need a thistle whistle to call them...

LemonQuiche · 22/09/2023 23:16

No, it’s nonsense.

I’m perfectly happy to accept there are very large fish in there.

Thats not a “monster”.

Presil · 22/09/2023 23:17

It's a cat.

Or a trident submarine.

whats the difference between a "monster" and a very large, scary, unidentified species of fish or reptile?

ProvisionsOnTheDock · 22/09/2023 23:19

We used to go on holiday to the Inverness area when I was a kid, and I was a fervent believer. I spent ages staring at the loch trying to spot Nessie. Obviously as an adult I realise it's highly unlikely there's a monster in there that's somehow never been discovered but a wee bit of me thinks maybe, just maybe...

BarbieKew · 22/09/2023 23:19

I think Nessie is the same amount of real as Scotland’s national animal

🦄

truthhurts23 · 22/09/2023 23:20

I believe anything is possible, all you have to do is look at deep sea creatures

carpool · 22/09/2023 23:42

After all this time surely it couldn't be the same one? There would have to be a family of nessies (and nothing much else left as any other creature would have been eaten!) So no, I don't believe in it.

CheshireCat1 · 22/09/2023 23:48

Definitely, I’ve seen her, she’s beautiful.

ClifftopView · 22/09/2023 23:50

Most legends are based on reality so probably, at one time, there was something big in there. I'd bet there isn't anything now, even if there was in the past. Or it's the longest lived creature ever!

SirenSays · 22/09/2023 23:51

Not one bit but I'd love to! There's not enough magic and mystery in the real world.

Whammyyammy · 22/09/2023 23:52

Its about as real as Father Christmas and the Easter bunny, made up to entice gullible suckers tourists

OnAFrolicOfMyOwn · 22/09/2023 23:55

No, because everyone knows it's actually a family of water-wombles. They swim in a line so each womble looks like one hump of the monster.

The PP doesn’t mean that, just some large fish that someone with an overactive imagination / drunk has turned into Nessie . Although my money is on the occasional floating log.

theduchessofspork · 22/09/2023 23:57

Or a yeti with fins, obviously

Pizzapie22 · 22/09/2023 23:57

Yes

The Yetis are also wombles - just very large ones.

Hermittrismegistus · 23/09/2023 00:00

There are some creatures that live for hundreds of years. Greenland sharks don't even reach sexual maturity untill around 200 years old (I think).

TheGhostofLoganRoy · 23/09/2023 00:01

People thought the Coelacanth was extinct for a long time, then it was found alive!

people used to say that the giant squid was a myth until they found it ..
