To have my toddler on lap for a 5 hour flight?

We're booked to fly to Cyprus in November, by which time my DD will be 19 months old.

We booked her as seat on lap because I couldn't imagine lugging around a car seat the whole way.

But now having second thoughts. She's obviously quite wriggly, a toddler, and won't easily sit still. The flight is 4h 40 mins. Am I asking for trouble?

I'd like to know others' experiences. DD last flew when she was 5 months old, obviously in lap and was very easy.

Top tip, apparently 20 mins is max for concentration at this age, I wrapped up some cheap toys/gifts. This water pens things are good, no ink

We did a 12 hour overnight flight with 4yo, 22m and 6m, with 3 seats for us all. Baby got a skycot which was helpful and 22m slept on us no problem. It was fine. 4 h isn't very long really.

I've never taken a car seat on a flight.

i would have booked her a seat, just then you get a row of 3 so easier to manage everything, and she can lie on the seat to nap, has her own tray table to play on, you can rest a kindle there and plug in some headphones for her
