To ask what you've done recently that makes you proud of yourself

I finished decorating my sitting room on Sunday and I'm honestly so proud of myself.

My ex partner left my home in a terrible state and I'm slowly putting it back together.

I was constantly let down by tradesmen so got on with it myself.

What have you done recently that makes you proud of yourself?

Passed an Open University module with 83%!

Rahoo · 07/09/2023 20:52

Stuck to a very strict diet and exercise programme since last Saturday. Also tackling some household tasks I find difficult. It's a lovely feeling isn't it ?

LetUsPounce · 07/09/2023 20:53

Well done you! That's great!

I did something similar: I dismantled a 3m length of wardrobes, moved them up a floor in the house and then reassembled them myself. Then I completely redecorated the room they were originally in. I felt very empowered not having to hang around waiting for someone to help!

Theoriginalmrscillianmurphy · 07/09/2023 20:54

@NunsKnickers that's brilliant, well done! What an achievement. When I passed my Accountancy exams I think I cried for two days 😁

I've tiled part of the bathroom, got a new job I love, lost half a stone and joined a choir.

Theoriginalmrscillianmurphy · 07/09/2023 20:55

@Rahoo that's my next job! I'm going to Tenerife in November and need to get rid of this belly and the other three I have 🤣 well done to you!

I bought my own flat as a single woman on an very average wage with no financial help from anyone. It did mean moving to the other side of the country, but go me.

Laurama91 · 07/09/2023 20:56

I made a spreadsheet at work that has so many formulas so auto counts. Today my manager said "you might actually be better than me". That made me proud and a little smug because he normally picks faults at everything I do. I walked out of the meeting and said to my team leader I bet that hurt him 😂

Theoriginalmrscillianmurphy · 07/09/2023 20:57

@LetUsPounce I also felt very empowered and it's spurred me on to keep going. Well done to you!

I started a leisure centre membership, and got brave enough to actually use the kettle bell section of the gym today!

well done everyone, I love the positivity in what we can achieve!

Theoriginalmrscillianmurphy · 07/09/2023 20:59

@Laurama91 I have a spreadsheet like that in work, a couple of people use it and it drives me insane. Well done you, nothing wrong with smug sometimes 😁

I’ve crossed off 3 things in the to-do list that is only in my head. My next step will be to bite the bullet & actually write the other things down & deal with them.
Oh, and I’ve made a supply of coconut flavour chilled Nespresso to last me 3 days.

Faz469 · 07/09/2023 21:04

Given birth to the most amazingly beautiful baby boy. Honestly can't believe I made him 😆

fudgecat · 07/09/2023 21:04

I got through 4 months of chemo and 3 weeks of radiotherapy in one piece

Moved my entire family to a different county via many many trips in a campervan, nothing was lost, nobody died, no one crashed and no one cried.

RugbySchmugby · 07/09/2023 21:44

I volunteered to help at a large local event last month and this evening went to the 'thank you' event.

I knew no one and am naturally very shy, but I went along anyway and introduced myself to people and ended up having some lovely chats with interesting people.

Sounds small, but is a huge step for me.

BlueKaftan · 07/09/2023 21:49

I did a lot of “Thanks” for these because I’m so impressed with so many of you!

Gemstar3 · 07/09/2023 22:00

Well done OP, that must have felt amazing! I passed my driving test yesterday after over 15 years of being absolutely terrified of driving, and yet really frustrated at my lack of independence. I’m SO proud of myself!

cheapskatemum · 07/09/2023 22:20

I'm so impressed with all of these! Mine is small in comparison: I work with vulnerable children with disabilities in residential care & managed to organise & facilitate a holiday for one of them with literally 2 weeks notice. He enjoyed it so much that on his last morning he asked for "3 more sleeps". Of course he couldn't have any longer on holiday, but it made me feel so happy that he wanted that.

SaleOfTwoTitties · 07/09/2023 22:37

Well done everyone. Amazing what we can do. I recently repaired and regrouted the hall floor tiles. They had been bothering me for so long (kept putting it off) and now they look so good. Yay!

On Tuesday my dh announced he was leaving me after 17 years for a woman much younger than me and came clean on the affair. I'm proud that I could forgive him.

On Thursday today, I messaged dh to wish him and his woman well and that he had my blessing. That i look forward to meeting her one day. I said I was glad he found love and that he found someone to take care of him.

And I thank THE LORD for this woman coming into my life. I thank THE Lord that he ended us when I did not have the guts.

And I thank THE LORD for taking from me this one bottle a day overweight alcoholic, ADHD, manic depressive, selfish, messy, nicotine, paracetamol addict, verbally abusive, neglectful, selfish man child and handing him to HER.

And I will patiently await a REAL MAN to come into my life.

Thank you this 31 year old for taking care of a broken old man into your prime years whilst I am free in mine. ThANK YOu SO MUCH.

I took myself out for dinner and went to the theatre tonight. Sat outside in a lovely little restaurant in the heart of Chinatown (ie didnt hide away) had a delicious meal and a glass of wine, saw a good show, now on train home. I know some people do this stuff all the time, but most don't and it's liberating. I've had a lovely evening.
