The music when you're on hold to gov.uk for a diy divorce

the music is just the most depressing thing ever. Every time I speak to someone I'm in tears and the music makes it a jillion times worse.

The nice man I had to speak to today said /is there anything else/ and i said /i know it's nothing to do with you but the music [etc etc]/ and he said that if he'd had £1 for every time someone said the music is massively depressing then he'd be living on a beach earning 20% (as they say)

i'm just airing my rant. but if a ton of other people also hate the music - would it be a massive thing for gov.uk to pick up the tunes a bit?

i'm not expecting hi ho silver lining or ooops upside my head, but something less sad would be terrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrific.

I feel like I missed out during my divorce this year now by not ringing them now!

What depressing songs are they playing??

onlylovecanhurtlikethis · 06/09/2023 19:52

There's that American Country song I've seen pop up on utube - "good riddance to the past and all my bad decisions I ain't ever looking back..."

onlylovecanhurtlikethis · 06/09/2023 19:52

Or Golddigga 😂

sweatervest · 06/09/2023 19:53

it's not a song it's just some massively depressing instrumental thing. so only massively depressing to me but the nice man said that a load of people have told him on the phone that they think it's depressing too.

so i'm not totally deaf when it comes to shit music and who on earth though it was a good idea to put something so sad needs to literally get their ears syringed/something helpful like that etc etc.

OP posts:
sweatervest · 06/09/2023 19:53

just thought of another country and western song "she got the ring. i got the finger"

will email gov.uk asap and let them know all suggestions forthwith etc.

ChocolateCakeOverspill · 06/09/2023 20:01

living on a beach earning 20% (as they say)

what does this mean?

ISeeMisledPeople · 06/09/2023 20:02

I phoned HMRC to speak about tax, and on more than one occasion was left listening to Robbie Williams singing 'come and have a go if you think you are hard enough' - which I thought was very funny, but the person on the other end of the phone, the one time I mentioned it, really didn't seem to...

sweatervest · 06/09/2023 20:03

living on a beach earning 20% means that you have so much money that you're earning 20% interest on it

i heard it in a film a million years ago but i can't remember where it's from

I once sat on hold to green flag while they played 'rescue me' when I had broken down.

'It's not right but it's okay', Whitney

saveforthat · 06/09/2023 20:04

If this thread is turning into requests my vote is I'm walking away (from the troubles in my life)

sweatervest · 06/09/2023 20:04

I really hope that was a deliberate choice by them!

I can buy myself flowers

PeskyRooks · 06/09/2023 20:09

I had an MRI scan and had music playing through the headphones and it was Spirit in the sky! A song about dying! Charming!

Scottish Power has Taylor Swift Blank Space but it's just sn excerpt and it stops suddenly then starts again round and round and round..drives you bloody mad!

sweatervest · 06/09/2023 20:16

who are these knobchops who put on spirit in the sky ffs?????????????????????????
