Price of a pack of twixes

RyanGoslingsTan · 31/08/2023 16:43

Just in my local shop, having a nose about and was looking at the biscuits. £4.75 for a pack of 9 twixes?! Surely this is absolutely ridiculous beyond belief?

Everything is beyond belief atm. We did a top up shop yesterday, not even a full shop and it was £110!

It's absolutely insane 😵

If only it was possible to buy other biscuits or get them from other shops.

No-one has to pay that, except possibly the tiny percentage who only have access to one shop and for some reason can only possibly eat twixes.

Every shop in the land will have something similar on offer for £1.50. So buy those instead.

I think you're missing the point

Use a different shop, I’m sure they’re half that price in Tesco and Morrison’s.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 31/08/2023 17:04

£4.90 for a tub of hot chocolate in our local Tesco.

Used to be about £1.99

Obviously I didn't buy them, it was just more of a shock to see that price and was basically seeing if anyone else had noticed prices like this

Ridiculous, isn't it?

Too dear then

Home bargains would be cheaper I bet

Feckin chancers!!

MMorales · 31/08/2023 17:06

Everything is just too expensive at the moment.

Eating out is a luxury, snacks are going the same way.

A multipack of crisps is around £3 now

Well not really because for things like that, I don't even look at what's not on offer.

If I want 'wrapper biscuits' or whatever, I'd just look for the big sign that says £1.50 or whatever and buy those. I wouldn't even see the things that aren't on offer or how much they cost.

It's not that simple if you have kids that only eat certain crisps or snacks.

We just buy a lot less now.

We always used to have snacks in the cupboards, now kids have to wait until we go shopping and then only buy about 1/4 of what we used to.

BackToOklahoma · 31/08/2023 17:11

What shop was it? I’d think they were actually priced wrong being as they’re about £2 in most supermarkets.

Disastermanagement · 31/08/2023 17:12

They've also been subject to shrinkflation. I used to love a twix but I've decided it might be cheaper to make my own - they're just millionaire shortbread after all

Well that's their choice then. They can have one Twix or three Kit Kats.

JanesBlond · 31/08/2023 17:13

Corner shop? They are always a massive rip-off. That same size pack is £2.50 in Sainsbury’s.

Tesco's are expensive

OnTheRoll · 31/08/2023 17:16

I saw a large bag of crisps for £6.99 in two different corner shops. Not in a movie theatre, not in a bar. In your normal shop. It was some regular brands of crisps too. There were others next to it for £2.49

RadioFoot · 31/08/2023 17:16

Ooh I want a Twix now! Yum.

That's extortionate OP! Not sure why people are missing the point of your posts. It's a commentary on rising grocery and food prices, nothing else.

BarbaraofSeville · 31/08/2023 17:12

Exactly.

That's why they have to wait until the next shop and cupboards dont have as many snacks.

RadioFoot · 31/08/2023 17:17

Oh actually I paid £1.10 for a brocoli yesterday £1.10 for one 'tree'. Crazy!

Tabitha1960 · 31/08/2023 17:17

Over recent years I have often treated myself to a bag of large prawns from Iceland for £4.50.

Shocked to see, when I tried to buy the identical bag yesterday, that it's now £8.

YIKES!

Soozikinzii · 31/08/2023 17:17

When things go up- like say a tin of corned beef- they don't go up 10p at a time they go up by 90p each time or so it seems . It's shocking really . There should be some way to protest about it but we have to eat !
