AIBU to think I’m pregnant from having sex with a condom once?

DH and I had sex on what I think was ovulation day (according to Flo app and had clear, stretchy CM). We used a condom and DH said he checked it after and it hadn’t split.

I’ve had strange pulling sensations and mild twinges down below the last week, very slight sore nipples and sore right breast. Something just feels different.

AIBU to think I’m pregnant if the condom didn’t split? I’m due on in 4 days so will test then.

(P.s. I have suspected PCOS but always had regular cycles until last month where it was 40 days, so perhaps it’s PCOS related… I’m so confused :()

I would say if the condom didn't split then surely the chance is extremely low

Hohofortherobbers · 29/08/2023 21:39

This is probably just PMT, you're over thinking.

FUPAgirl · 29/08/2023 21:41

Extremely unlikely that you are pregnant, don't worry!

Gently, yes. Only because there's no way to know if you're pregnant unless you do a test.

It's unlikely but not impossible obviously. Hope it works out ok.

RoseRows · 29/08/2023 21:43

Seems unlikely. Only way to know is test when you can.

This and as someone who relied on the Flo app to get pregnant the peak days were never correct and never matched what my ovulation tests were telling me.

10HailMarys · 29/08/2023 22:08

You won’t be pregnant from having sex with an intact condom.

llihl13 · 29/08/2023 23:17

Thanks all, that has put my mind at rest! I am likely just overthinking but I may book a docs apt as the pulling sensation in my uterus is very unusual for me (has been happening since ovulation and due on in a few days)

Why are you overthinking this so much?!?

Redlarge · 29/08/2023 23:24

I dont think you will be

SisterAgatha · 29/08/2023 23:28

I had all that when I had PCOS. I’m older and got my weight down so it resolved but I regularly had those symptoms.

Not PCOS related - Once I even had my stomach move in the bath like a baby kicking. I tested 3 times. Turns out it was just gas moving around in the garage that is my stomach.

Danikm151 · 29/08/2023 23:30

No contraception is 100% even condoms.
your chances of being pregnant are very slim but you won’t know until you test

TeaKitten · 29/08/2023 23:30

A doctors appointment at this point seems really OTT. Why not wait and see if you miss your period first? Sometimes random odd cycles happen. Why are you tracking anyway? Are you hoping to TTC soon?

I have tracked my periods for as long as I can remember, with PCOS I’ve always been told it’s good to keep track regardless of whether you’re TTC or not.

I guess I thought I should go docs to rule out anything sinister, infections etc. I also had an abnormal smear last year. But I’ll wait until my period and see if it goes :)

I imagine it is likely that then, perhaps the symptoms are just changing slightly as I age. Used to be horrendously sore boobs two weeks before I was due on! Glad to hear it cleared up for you!

Very unlikely - condoms when they don't split are pretty reliable contraception.

I hate the pill so have only ever used condoms, never had an accidental pregnancy with them + gotten pregnant quickly without them

TheWayoftheLeaf · 30/08/2023 10:31

I get a weird pulling sensation sometimes before a UTI sets in

llihl13 · 30/08/2023 17:14

Hi all, well I’m not sure if my hunch was right but I did a pg test and there was a faint positive. DH is certain nothing went wrong with the condom but the pulling sensation has travelled up to underneath my belly button today.

How common is a false positive? It was a cheapie test from Amazon but also worried now as apparently things like cervical cancer can cause false positives :(

GoldenSpangles · 30/08/2023 17:28

I think a positive pregnancy test is much more likely to mean that you're pregnant rather than you have cancer. Condoms arent terribly reliable as contraception even if they don't split so I don't think there is any mystery here. False positives are fairly rare unless you were looking at an evaporation line or something.

It’s much more likely to be a pregnancy than cancer. Sometimes condoms fail, it happens. Contact your GP and request HCG blood tests if you are concerned as this can tell you if the levels are rising.

McConkeysPlate · 30/08/2023 17:35

I would wait a few days and test again.

Peony654 · 30/08/2023 17:36

Seems unlikely. I’d wait for your period before seeing Gp. I get similar pulling and cramps before my period

Mummapenguin20 · 30/08/2023 17:38

A faint positive is still a positive x

PinkPlantCase · 30/08/2023 17:39

I doubt a GP will do a blood test to confirm a pregnancy.

Evaporation lines are possible false false positive but unlikely. I’d try again with a more expensive test to be sure.

llihl13 · 30/08/2023 17:46

Thanks all, I will get DH to get a clear blue test before I call GP or anything. The abnormal smear is just playing on my mind. So confused right now, lots to think about I don’t really know what to believe!
