To wonder where the fudge my pantyliner is!?

Throwaway as it's embarrassing.

DH and I are staying at my parents for the past month while our house is having some work done. Last night I went to sleep wearing a pantyliner (it was a bit loose but I rearranged so I thought it sat better). Woke up this morning, fed DC, gave DC to DH to change nappy and went to the loo to discover my pantyliner was no longer there.

I didn't mention anything to DH but had a peek in the bed to see if it fell off in the bed, couldn't see it. Looked around the floor of the bed, not there.
Retraced my steps to the loo, not anywhere there.
I did sit in the living room while DH changed DC's nappy so I had a look there too, but it isn't there.

Where on earth is it!?

Also, highly likely it's just me that wears liners in this house. Do post-menopausal women need liners!? It's going to be so mortifying when it's found. It's obvious it's mine and also just plain disgusting 😭😭😭

Are you in the USA? I've never heard anyone in the UK call it's a pantyliner.

Is it stuck to the inside of your pyjama leg?

Diddykong · 19/08/2023 07:05

Did it go in the toilet?

I call the thin ones pantyliners. The ones for the last few spotting days of a period.

custardlover · 19/08/2023 07:06

Stuck to the duvet?

I'm in the UK and would always call a pantyliner a pantyliner, what else do we call it? It's not a sanitary towel, those have heft!

What do you call it in the UK, out of interest?

Check the bed more carefully (could it have slid between the mattress and the frame?), also your pajama top (!).
Some postmenopausal women do wear pantyliners for minor stress incontinence.

I'm in the UK. What do we call it here?! I've been calling it a pantyliner ever since I can remember

Not stuck on my PJs.

DH singing three blind mice to DC while I subtlety poke about 😩

It's a pantyliner in the UK too isn't it?

Anyway - try rhe duvet - is it stuck there?

IkeaHelp · 19/08/2023 07:10

It's a pad?

Do people call knickers pantys?

Livvylau · 19/08/2023 07:12

It's a pantyliner. The stuff you use for discharge or mild incontinence. I'm 3 months postpartum and sadly developed mild incontinence.

I'm hoping it fell in the loo.

Just noticed duvet cover is gaping open and poppers are not fastened... What if it's actually IN the duvet cover. This is so cringe.

They are literally called pantyliners in the UK, here is a snapshot from Tesco, all called pantry liners. A pad is something else, what you might use when on a period, a panty liner won’t be very effective on a period day.

No, but the thin pads for every day use / freshness are called pantyliners in the UK. I've never heard them called anything else.

OP have you checked the bins, just in case you've forgotten binning it?

RuthW · 19/08/2023 07:17

And yes post meno ladies do wear them

ImDoingThisNow · 19/08/2023 07:17

Stick on the back of a jumper? Be careful when you casually throw something on today 😬

GorillaInBikini · 19/08/2023 07:17

Panty liners are definitely what we call them in the UK. Even says so on the box I have in the bathroom.

Can your husband not join the hunt OP?

VanillaImpulse · 19/08/2023 07:18

Would one of your parents found it on the floor and thrown it away?

Livvylau · 19/08/2023 07:19

Ha I could have binned it in my sleep deprived state.. I don't think I did though. And how would I know it's this morning's liner and not one from yesterday 😭 (our room is an en suite so really it's just me using the bathroom bin).

I'm verging on asking DH if he found it and discreetly threw it away but the bedroom bin doesn't have anything in it. And when he went to the loo it was straight after he woke up so he couldn't have put it in the bathroom bin.

Nope. I just woke up about an hour ago. They aren't awake yet. And I definitely fell asleep with it on because I remember thinking it's a bit loose... And then I woke up, fed DC, handed her over to DH. Sat in the living room,.grumbled to myself that DH left the living room in a state the night before, tidied it up so parents can't say anything, went to the loo, discovered missing liner, retraced my steps and here we are.

I did check the toilet bowl. Maybe the flush made it go away. But it is a notoriously weak flush which I wouldn't expect to flush away a liner.

Great. This is an anxiety I'm going to have to live with today 😩

Livvylau · 19/08/2023 07:24

Oh gosh lol what if it's stuck on DH somewhere 😭 he's leaning against the headboard so can't check his back.

Incidentally he has run out of nursery rhymes and is singing JINGLE BELLS.
