I keep seeing repetitive numbers.. have I finally gone batshit?

redthoughts · 02/08/2023 15:30

The last time this happened was four years ago .
For about two months I kept seeing 1111, 1212, 1515,1717 randomly in all different t sitautions.
It freaked me out.

When I finally copped the repetitiveness of the sequences, I found out about my husbands affair. He left. Our lives blew up as we knew it. Moved homes, moved schools .. everything. It was hellish.

Things has settled substantially.
My kids, two with mild SN are doing really well. My eldest starts Uni soon.
My love life is non existent but I'm now open to something casual. I've had a casual fling but his life is too complex for me to even begin to describe. Too much drama so that's over.

For the last few weeks, these sequences have started up out of nowhere.
I do pray to my guardian angels every night.. just asking for guidance and to mind us and support me in being a good parent.
Ex has nothing to do with kids now.

I'm not looking for these numbers specifically but I see them in many contexts. Have I finally gone bananas or is there more to this in your experience.

I've had this experience too. Particularly 11:11 and I have had lots of good things come around lately so it's been a positive thing for me but VERY weird!

redthoughts · 02/08/2023 15:39

Thanks! Are you spiritual / believe in angels? Pray?

glovepillow22 · 02/08/2023 15:45

@redthoughts I don't pray or have a religon or believe in angels but I do believe the world has its way of letting you know things - so I guess slightly spiritual?

MrsImFedUpOfTheWeather · 02/08/2023 15:50

I remember being very freaked out when I started seeing 11:11 everywhere. Then other number sequences. 1212/1515.

I'm not sure what they mean but you are not going mad - or if you are then so am I. I try and see them as the 'universe' trying to tell me something, but it isn't always easy figuring out what. I take them as a good sign though - not a bad one.

Begsthequestion · 02/08/2023 15:51

The human brain is wired to recognise patterns.

Well done for having a human brain I guess.

If it gets worse, perhaps see a doctor. Could be hallucinations or even the start of a psychotic break.

Fuckingfumin · 02/08/2023 16:00

Listen, I've watched Tyler Henry's stuff on Netflix so now I'm sold 😂😂😂😂

I'm with you OP!!

No I don't see sequences but I've had "signs" which are incredibly clear from my best friend who died

UnctuousUnicorns · 02/08/2023 16:05

I get 1.11 and 11.11 a lot, but I've had supernatural experiences for around seventeen years now, so I imagine it's linked to that. I haven't come to any harm nor had anything bad happen to me, though. 🤷‍♀️

JaneJeffer · 02/08/2023 16:20

The numbers are actually there! OP isn't hallucinating them. If they go to the doctor and tell them this the doctor will definitely think there's something wrong with them Grin

2 nights ago I woke up at 2.22, 3.33 and 4.44am. Freaked me out but I reckon I have a highly accurate inner clock that prompted me to do that after the first wake up.

Eyesopenwideawake · 02/08/2023 16:48

It's the same thing when you decide to buy a particular make/model of car or breed of dog and you start seeing them everywhere!

It's the part of the brain called the Reticular Activating System and it's role is to filter out unimportant stuff and draws your attention to things that your mind deems worthy of your attention.

Maybe you started looking for number sequences to give you some familiarity in your stressful life, maybe it's just random but it's nothing to worry about.

Bibonelove · 02/08/2023 17:59

Ive been seeing 777 and 444 last few weeks , hoping its a good sign, i need it!!

Merapi · 02/08/2023 18:07

I think they're always there, but you only notice them once you start noticing, if you see what I mean. You're on high alert and deliberately looking for them, so there they are.

It's like white feathers. They are everywhere, and if I went for a walk in the wood up the road from me right now, I'd be bound to find at least one, simply because I was looking for it. Any other day I probably wouldn't even notice. If you believe in the white feather thing and you've been bereaved, you will subconsciously be looking out for them.

ManateeFair · 02/08/2023 18:08

You're only noticing them because you've become aware of them. Once you spot something, you see it everywhere. The human brain naturally looks for patterns and signs. It doesn't mean anything.

It's very, very common for people who have heard a new word (one they didn't know the meaning of and are adamant that they've never heard before) to report that they then heard the same word at least once the next day or a few times over the coming week. This isn't magic or a secret sign; it's simply that once you've noticed something for the first time and thought about it, you then notice it again instead of it washing over you.

You will also have seen those numbers many many times before any of these significant things happened to you, without ever noticing them. You'll have seen other sequences of numbers many, many times too - you'll have seen, eg, 6821 or 2232 or 9009 just as many times in your life as 1111 and 1212. You just haven't noticed them.

Merapi · 02/08/2023 18:09

Great minds @ManateeFair

Doingtheboxerbeat · 02/08/2023 18:14

I definitely believe it's pattern recognition - I'll look at my phone and it will be 11:11 but it could easily be 18:17 , I just notice the 11:11 more.

ShadowPuppets · 02/08/2023 18:15

Ah, I’m coming at this from a slightly different angle but I have mild (diagnosed) OCD and it’s stuff like this that makes me realise I’m falling into a bad patch. I don’t even realise I’m looking for them, but subconsciously I’m falling into categories and repetition and ordering and before I know it I’m counting and repeating stuff. But that’s very much me and my demons - it sounds like this is giving comfort to you so if it is, let it!

KrisAkabusi · 02/08/2023 18:34

You'll notice every time you see 11:11, because you're looking for it. You won't notice all the times you've seen 10:27 because that doesn't mean anything to you. It's a combination of pattern recognition, and now that you're aware if it, confirmation bias. It doesn't mean anything.

Positive41 · 02/08/2023 18:40

I consider myself a spiritual person. I believe in there being a lot more out there and angels do exist. I have been in a few of serious situations where I could have been physically hurt/even worse. each time I had a sign from my angel to keep me safe.

I have periods of seeing number sequences- 11.11 2222 1717 2020 etc. I see it as a good thing. Signs that your angels are communicating with you.

LuckyStone · 02/08/2023 19:02

It often means good things, not always though. You can google what each sequence means.
11 11 is often a wake up call. The universe might ask you to be more spiritual with it, the first time it happened it tried to wake you up. Your live was in upheavel, that is also a wake up call. It will probabley keep doing it until you get the message. What is the message? Often spirituality, figuring out how the universe actually works, very differently to how we are being told by the mainstream.

Unicorn34 · 02/08/2023 19:06

Theyre Angel numbers but I wouldn't worry too much. Maybe Google angel number meanings and have a read.

Kazzyhoward · 02/08/2023 19:08

For me, it's 7-4-7.

For a few years now, when I wake up in the morning, the alarm clock often shows 7:47 it's always freaked me out. I presume the reality is that something happens outside at that time which wakes me up, i.e. a neighbour going to work, etc., but never worked out what, as I used to listen if I woke a bit earlier but never heard anything. I checked our central heating boiler, but the start time is nowhere close.

I've started seeing the 7-4-7 elsewhere now too. Probably because I'm hyper aware of it, but still, it worries me. If I buy a few small items in the shop, it spooks me when the total is £7.47 which seems to happen far too often for it to be random (I seldom buy the same things at the same time). A while ago I even got a strip of raffle tickets at the school fair which included the ticket number 747!

I've told OH that we'll never fly on a Boeing 747 in case it's an omen!

How do you know that they're really there?

Plus seeing significance in random, unrelated events can be an early sign of mental unwellness.

My DD has OCD too and pattern recognition plays a big part in it.
Human brains are very good at this.

KrisAkabusi · 02/08/2023 19:13

Do you work for Boeing?

Giraffe1123 · 02/08/2023 19:15

For me it's 22. I always seem to look at the clock at 22.22. A bill will come to 22.22 etc.
I don't think it means anything though.
