To message police about noisy neighbours at this time in the morning?

It's a regular thing. We live in a street where there's a house with people coming and going all obviously high. Often outside very loud.
I've got the window open and they're at it again. So loud. Not screaming at each other just bits of arguing.
I've contacted the police online. They said ring emergency at first but I said it's more an antisocial problem and I'll just contact the council tomorrow if they don't have anyone on patrol?
They then said they'll send someone out to check the street.
They wanted me to give a description. I said I'm not going outside. They're all obviously drunk high or both. I just know which house it is as it's always there. A few doors up.

So would you have bothered or just wait and contact council? It's common all over the area tbh and nothing seems to get done so am thinking I've wasted my time?

They're arguing as I type so hopefully police will turn up soon?

I have earplugs somewhere? I'll try and find them. I'm not at work until the weekend but have a busy day today. Plus if I nap in the day it cocks up my sleep pattern.

God it's really kicking off now. 🤞Hope the police come soon.

Also is it usual for them to ask my date of birth?

If it's getting out of hand I would ring 999 in addition to your message OP, hope it's quiet soon and you can sleep.

LakieLady · 21/07/2023 03:12

I'd ring them, and hope they go round.

With a bit of luck, they'll nick them for the drugs.

If they're in social housing, I'd also report them to the HA or council's housing department for repeated noise nuisance, too.

Your date if birth request sounds odd

IncognitoMam · 21/07/2023 03:15

Our house is our own but the street has a lot rented. I'll definitely contact the council.

Typically it's gone quiet again. They'll probably go indoors before the police get there?

No they're at it again. DH is asleep. He can sleep through anything.

Asking DOB is standard. Lord only knows why.

I get calls from our call centre with the complainers DOB on them. Its completely irrelevant to the call but its asked for a lot of the time 🤷🏻‍♀️

DimeStoreHooker · 21/07/2023 03:20

Hope police get there soon

Deathly quiet now but I can't get back to sleep 🙈

Probably best I put my phone off 😂

Are you sure your council doesn't have an anti social behaviour team that can be contacted out of hours? Some do. They will be better equipped to respond to noise than the police who have to focus in more dire stuff.

murasaki · 21/07/2023 05:57

Mine have kicked off. Again. I've texted their housing officer, who made it calm down for a week, but it's been going since 5 in the morning. I hate them.

It helps them narrow down who the caller was in a group of people and is used for their analysis purposes.

They need to know if there's huge declines or increases in people using the service in certain age groups.

Angryappendix · 21/07/2023 06:26

Honestly I would keep reporting it every time!! They have closed down homes in our town because of this, that means they put a ban on anyone who doesn’t live at the property going in and out of the property.

Don’t just email the council, found out who your local councillor is and hound them about it. It’s not fair on you.

Sorry to hear that. Have you tried your local online 101 form?

No, but will next time, thanks.
Its emergency housing for another Borough, and my councillor gave me their housing officer details, so I texted him this morning. Again as I did last week and after having spoken to him...two doors down either side could hear it too. It's not partying, but domestic arguments re the fidelity or not of.both partners, including names of.other people, we can hear everything. There are kids in there, its not ok.

I am so tired of it.

Every time you contact the police, get an incident number, even if they don't attend. Keep a log (write retrospectively if you have called before). Advise the council anti social team and the housing association after every incident. Yes, be a nuisance to them. You do not deserve to suffer this behaviour.

The scum that thinks this behaviour is normal deserved to be hounded and hounded.

We had this problem for 10 years with next door drinking , fighting ,child neglect the lot. We were Keeping logs , liaison with local police as the women was also harassing us. Police were going to start charges against them for harassment and bang everything came to a standstill. They both informed the police that they were alcoholics and they became the victims!.Total waste of 10 years fighting the behaviour and doing everything the police and authorities asked us to do and it nearly cost me my sanity and all she received was a warning to leave us alone . She still lives next door and every couple of years tries to start some kind of shit with us but we just completely ignore it as we realised the bitch was just doing it for attention and for reasons of jealousy. We live our best life and it drives her insane.
OP don't waste your time on this nothing will be done. Usually there is some type of mental health issue or alcohol involved so very little will be done . Don't let them affect your life .

When i phoned to report smashed windows they wanted to know my ethnicity aswell as date of birth. I told them i thought that was highly irrelevant!
