Legoland Windsor queues

How bad are they on your average summer Saturday? I've booked to go and hoping for an access pass due to autism but if I don't get one how bad is it?

Longest queue was over 2 hours for the Ninjago ride. The rest were 40 mins to an hour…
Quite a few of the rides were shut for unknown reasons so made the queues for the ones open longer I guess.
I thought it was an absolute rip off and that was with discounted tickets!
I would have been furious to pay full whack!

We went on an inset day in July, which was a rainy day. Unfortunately it was also one of the school strike days and a lot of school trip days. We were there 5.5 hours and managed 4 rides in that time. The thing that topped it off were the queue jumpers. Would never go again.

AutisticLegoLover · 03/08/2023 23:02

Goodness, I hope the bad e ortie ces of those on here are representative of what our trip will be like! We are really looking forward to it and hope it will be brilliant. I suppose liking lego as much as we do will be a major factor in our enjoyment.

Are you going soon, OP?

AutisticLegoLover · 04/08/2023 09:40

@LancashireSquirrel tomorrow and the weather forecast is awful!

That may work in your favour! Take waterproofs. Good luck & enjoy 😊 let me know how you get on with your access pass etc!

Don't want to put a downer on it but the Ride Access Pass line was disastrous at Alron Towers for us in April. Yes it was a Bank Holiday weekend but the lines were longer than the normal queue many of the rides. We paid for fast track also as it was intolerable with ND teens. Hope you have a better experience.

A friend of mine who has an access pass for her child has found the same at various theme parks if they go on a really busy day. She was waiting over half an hour for quite a few rides at both thorpe park and lego land in the past. I think huge numbers of people have access passes these days and it's just impossible to keep the queues down to reasonable levels. They also need to balance letting some people through who have paid for fast passes and just normal general entry. I think at busy times these days you should always expect to have a slight wait no matter what type of pass you have.

OP make sure you download the Legoland app. You can use it to do ‘virtual queuing’ so you wander round the playground/cafes while you wait. You do not have to stand in line more than about 15 minutes if you have the app and you can pay extra to halve your wait time - worth it.

@StillWantingADog We’ve been to Billund in the height of the Danish summer hols and it’s incomparable to Windsor; the maximum queue was about 15 minutes on a “busy day” by the park staff’s standards.

Ooh brilliant - 3 weeks to go!

BusyMum47 · 04/08/2023 11:01

@AutisticLegoLover Been loads over the years during peak times but never without the 'fastpass' option - the Qs are hideous otherwise!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 04/08/2023 12:07

I agree with others.

Arriving right at the beginning when it opens means you can get a few rides in before the queues build up. Right at the end of the day can be better too.

Definitely bring your own lunch as it takes a big bit of stress out of the day - one less thing to queue for and you feel less ripped off - and less “herded”.

Having done a few days at theme parks in the last 10+ years (we don’t go loads) without them, I did bite the bullet and get fast passes for our recent trip to Legoland - just the most basic one that queues for you virtually. It was really worth it. Means you can wander round, maybe go on something with a shorter queue, whilst it does the the hard work of queuing for the big rides.

The app won’t queue virtually for you without you buying the fast pass so don’t rely on that, it just tells your queuing times.

I've got everything needed for food to take with us. I'm planning on eating it watching the pirate show. I've got an access pass due to disability so the queues hopefully won't be too bad. I'm saving the water rides until nearer the end so we aren't soaked all day. Got my wasp and bug repellent ready. Two changes of clothes and spare shoes. I've found a waterproof in the coat cupboard.

Well here we are at the train station at the crack of sparrow fart. Two very excited Lego fans 😃

We spread our food out over the day so a sandwich in one queue, bag of crisps in the next, biscuit in another, apple later. Took mind off queuing for a few mins.

sittingonacornflake · 05/08/2023 07:18

@AutisticLegoLover have an amazing day!!!! We are off there for the first time on Friday coming from Cornwall and are very excited / nervous about the queues

Neonyellowfish · 05/08/2023 07:22

Have a great day!

LadyGeorginaSmythe · 05/08/2023 07:25

Hope you have a brilliant time!

DarkForces · 05/08/2023 07:26

Have fun. I love legoland! I'd get straight to the ride you want to do most and then use queue app to judge the rest. There's Lego building and inside rides to keep you dry and head to the shows in dry spells if you're bored of queuing. I think we managed about 8 rides last time we were there on a Saturday

AutisticLegoLover · 05/08/2023 09:25

So far so good from Manchester to Legoland on the train.

I hope you have waterproof it is going to ne wet. We went the other day. It passed with rain all day. Even with the splash suits I had to change their clothes half way through the day. We still had a brilliant time. We did the water rides last and I changed them again for the journey home. We were on all rides in less than 10 minutes except skylion which was 25. Epic but dodgy day.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 05/08/2023 09:40

One of the best days we ever had at Legoland was early in the season on a day with snow showers! We went prepared in salopettes and thick coats with thick socks, hats and gloves. Very few other people went at all! We had an absolute ball and did all of the rides that we wanted, even staying on the pirate ship for 3 rides in a row!
@AutisticLegoLover you sound well prepared, I hope the rain works in your favour and you all have a great day.

webuiltthiscityonrockandwheat · 05/08/2023 12:32

Do you have an access card with a queue symbol? That might help with long waits

AutisticLegoLover · 05/08/2023 12:49

It's amazing so far! Will update later but so far it's great fun and no queues with the pass. It's not that busy anyway.
