To want a pink bathroom

Hi, we have a grey marble en-suite bathroom. I would like to paint the bathroom vanity unit a pale pink. The amount of pink in the room would be pretty small (2m wide for double sinks by 60cm high). DH is massively opposed to pink because he is old fashioned and thinks it is girly. If he has his way the entire house would be boring grey. AIBU to want a tiny bit of pink in the only bathroom in the house where no guests go and I spend way more time in there than him?

(For context we have another family bathroom which is boring grey and beige already!)

Go for it I love pink!

Hellokittymania · 16/07/2023 02:03

I would love to have a pink bathroom, the poster who said their bathroom is black and bright pink, sounds like something I would like. My sofa is like a pinkish gray color, I have cream and beige and I’m still thinking about how to decorate, but I think pink and gray look really nice.

We're getting this in our bedroom and getting complimentary pink blinds and towels in en-suites. V excited!

You definitely should paint it!

Trying to link gorgeous pink wallpaper but doesn't seem to be working...

My DH is secure enough in his masculinity that he does not oppose any pink (or otherwise “feminine”) decor at all.

I want to paint (at least one wall in) mine Rasperry Diva. I've got the tester pot but not yet started. Any views?

plasticwallet · 16/07/2023 07:16

problem is pink is the new grey!

Fairislefandango · 16/07/2023 07:20

He's a bit ridiculous for complaining that it's girly, but tbh I'm really not a fan of pink at all. I'd prefer grey any day!

WandaWonder · 16/07/2023 07:23

I don't get the pink is for girls comment but I don't think one person has the right to go 'well I want a colour so I am having it no matter what you say' children act like that

DisquietintheRanks · 16/07/2023 07:30

See I can't bear pink and would absolutely veto it if dh suggested it. I do think you have a right to an equal say in your home's colour scheme but I also think you have to both like what you end up with.

I saw the word Barbie in this link and was prepared to hate this 🫣

It's really lovely , I'd have that myself

StarchySturgess1 · 16/07/2023 08:23

I have a pink bathroom, it's bloody brilliant.

Your husband's insecurity about colours is absurd.

BillyNotQuiteNoMates · 16/07/2023 10:10

Personally I can’t think of a worse colour for a bathroom, but that’s me. What I do think is important, is that you are both happy with the way that the room looks, or that at the very least there’s a “trade off”. He wants a certain dresser or to wear a hideous pair of trousers that you hate, then he gets his way on that.

JMSA · 16/07/2023 10:22

Pink is the best colour there is.
YANBU.

TheBerry · 16/07/2023 10:34

Is he a millennial? Millennial grey is 100% a thing, though I’ve managed to avoid it fortunately.

Grey and pink looks lovely together. Go for the pink!

ShowOfHands · 16/07/2023 10:45

My downstairs bathroom is Little Greene blush pink with a green/pink bird splash wall as pictured.

Tell your DH that grey* is the preserve of dull middle aged men. We can all be mindlessly sexist, right?

I do loathe the grey trend however. It makes houses feel cold and clinical and somehow worse when people put a small amount of pink to try and warm it up. It looks like they've read it as a tip somewhere and tried to make the best of a cold, soulless job. If I were you, I'd lose the grey in that room entirely.

I think pink is lovely but I would get around it by using accents of pink since it goes beautifully with grey by the accessories- r towels, soap dispenser, flowerpot for plant, bath mat etc being pink and change it out easily if I ever wanted to

Neutral colours can be jazzed up easily with accessories accenting and then both win- still a grey bathroom, also a pink and grey bathroom

TroysMammy · 16/07/2023 11:05

My bathroom is white with bright pink accessories. It's a pity I had it done in 2003 as I now want pink glitter flooring but it would be a pain to replace the floor tiles.

RosesAndHellebores · 16/07/2023 11:14

@ShowOfHands that is fabulous.

mickandrorty · 16/07/2023 13:25

i actually couldn't live with this, my house looks like a unicorn exploded (that's probably underselling it) I'm a proper maximalist my husband just leaves me to it, he painted the bathroom bright pink for me lol.
