AIBU? Grin

Yeah that was a very weird ad post title. Made my think of “I’ve developed a rash”.

kezziecakes · 11/07/2023 21:35

What do you love about them? I've never bought anything from there or even walked into a store but am prepared to look!

MurielThrockmorton · 11/07/2023 21:37

I have some lovely plain clothes from there but I walked in and had to walk straight out the other day as all the clashing patterns and colours were too much for me!

Hazelnuttella · 11/07/2023 21:38

😂 I keep seeing this. It makes it sound like a forbidden saucy romance… which is definitely not the seasalt vibe.

Fleetheart · 11/07/2023 21:39

I like them, just like I like White Stuff, but Infear they are aging. let’s just say it’s mainly ladies of a certain age who wear them

LakieLady · 11/07/2023 22:10

I've got a great denim dress from Sea Salt that I wear a lot and it always gets loads of compliments. I agree that a lot of the patterned stuff in there is pretty naff, but I've bought a few plain tops over the years and they wash well.

Mind you, I buy stuff in White Stuff, too, because I especially like them but because my small town only has Sea Salt, Crew Clothing, White Stuff and a tiny branch of Next that has a very limited range. We used to have Monsoon and a couple of great independent boutiques, but they've all closed down.

I really can't be arsed to schlep miles into a big town for more variety, and I've got sick of online shopping as I reckon I end up sending 80% of what I order back.

LakieLady · 11/07/2023 22:11

Duhhh, should be NOT because I especially like them!

gogomoto · 11/07/2023 22:19

I like them as does my dd (she's early 20's) and my mother (70's)

They suit women who like comfortable materials and have an aversion to ironing Grin

KirstenBlest · 11/07/2023 22:24

The quality is great. Their t-shirts are good.
I also like some Hotter shoes.

woodhill · 11/07/2023 22:26

I like them too

Don't know what OP feels about Seasalt, but I think she's commenting on a thread started by Mumsnet HQ with that title. I thought it was an odd form of words too. Are there a lot more of these MNHQ threads in Active now?

10HailMarys · 11/07/2023 22:28

Their stuff really isn’t my personal style, but of course you should wear what you like if it suits you. Why would this be an AIBU?

cocksstrideintheevening · 11/07/2023 22:30

All the ads are bonkers at the moment. I don't give a shire about Amazon prime day.

I guess they're doing what they need to to keep the wheels turning.

Yup. After I saw it for the 150th time I decided it needed a boring option!!

Never actually bought from Seasalt, but the ad has certainly made the brand stick in my mind… possibly for the wrong reasons!

Voting option, not boring option!

Hate their tops and dresses love the linen trousers, but then I am 59 so probably a wanna of a certain age.

Ageist comment! What particular age are you thinking of and what is wrong with being that age?

KirstenBlest · 12/07/2023 07:27

The fabric and stitching is good quality. The clothes wash well, are easy to wear and practical. It's not particularly my sort of stuff but my mother loves it, as do most of her friends.

The quality is much better than brands like Joules and White Stuff, but they're ok too.

KirstenBlest · 12/07/2023 07:29

@Fleetheart , 'women of a certain age' is sexist and ageist.

Chikoletta · 12/07/2023 07:32

Oh god, me too, must be an age thing OP! I'm 40 and appreciate the quality and cut, things can look frumpy on the hanger but actually look amazing on. Love the wool jumpers too. I avoid the horrid prints though.

Fleetheart · 12/07/2023 07:33

@KirstenBlest get over yourself, you don’t see men wearing sea salt; and furthermore what are you the language police?

RampantIvy · 12/07/2023 07:33

I really like some of their stuff. I don't like most of the muted colours and patterns, but every now and again I turn up an absolute gem. I have worn and worn my Seasalt linen trousers, Breton tops and midi dress that I bought last year. The quality is great. I just wish they did fewer patterns and more vibrant colours.

Actually I don't because I would just spend more money there Grin

I find that as people get older they start to feel that it's actually not as bad being older as they feared when younger, especially when you consider the alternative ...

KirstenBlest · 12/07/2023 07:29

@Fleetheart , 'women of a certain age' is sexist and ageist.

As one of those women, it's absolutely accurate. The occasional twenty something wearing it and looking good - because they would look good wrapped in a dustsheet, never mind a floral tiered and ruffled frock - doesn't change the fact it's a brand that appeals to and is specifically targeted towards middle class and middle aged women.

annahay · 12/07/2023 07:41

Well judging from the replies here I must already be middle aged!
