£5k

I quite like it 😆

Thehop · 06/07/2023 19:58

This is so odd

Appalonia · 06/07/2023 19:58

£5k? Hahaha

If it's £12.5m that's because Lycett (the comedian) valued it at that.

Given the RA is a charity if someone feels like making that large a donation in return for it then fair play to them.

quebao · 06/07/2023 19:59

Joe is that you?

LittleBearPad · 06/07/2023 19:59

I’ve looked it up - it’s a very specific number considering it’s size!

PrayerFactory · 06/07/2023 20:00

You get that the RA just accepts or rejects pieces for the summer exhibition, right?

Yes, the artist prices the work. Or decides if it’s for sale.

He offers worldwide personal hand delivery if you bought his previous Pringle can and plasticine sculpture.

Artists set their own prices for Summer Exhibition pieces.

Blossomtoes · 06/07/2023 20:31

How much is he asking for it?

Appalonia · 06/07/2023 22:03

Way too much! I'm just curious to see what people think it's worth...

OP posts:
Kingsparkle · 06/07/2023 22:06

I’m guessing the price is part of a skit or something.

musixa · 06/07/2023 22:08

It looks nothing like Gary Lineker; nor does the expression convey disgust.

Lovelydaytomorrow · 06/07/2023 22:30

If no one buys it at that price, they were taking the piss.

If someone buys it at that price, they were right to charge that.

WTFAreYouForReal · 06/07/2023 22:34

£2.50

1980to1989 · 06/07/2023 22:41

Ha ha I love it, and the title 🤣

Sparklesocks · 06/07/2023 22:44

It’s almost like Joe lycett is a comedian known for being tongue in cheek…

ComtesseDeSpair · 06/07/2023 22:45

Somebody either buys it or they don’t. If it’s for a charity, that’s often essentially what the buyer wants their purchase to reflect.

I just looked at JL’s web shop and am about to buy ‘Alan Sugar Staring At You Through A Skylight’ for my brother. It’s not £12.5million though, I don’t like my brother that much.

Appalonia · 06/07/2023 23:26

I can only.hope, because he's a comedian it is a pisstake. However, having perused some of the other piss poor paintings that are going for thousands, I'm not so sure...!

Blossomtoes · 06/07/2023 23:32

I’m gutted the Tit Box has sold out, I’d have loved that.

WandaWonder · 06/07/2023 23:41

He does annoy me sometimes but if it was genuine and not a joke (I am fine of it is a joke!) then how is it any different to painting that sell for millions, or any item worth more than the the physical item is made of

the Mona Lisa is priceless but it is only priceless due to the history

KnitMePurlMe · 06/07/2023 23:47

Thanks for the heads up OP! I’ve just bought it - bargain 🥰

ThinWomansBrain · 06/07/2023 23:50

I believe the artists set the price - or declare that the artwork is not for sale, and the RA charge a commission - I think somewhere in the region of 45%.

Ridiculously excited that something I fell in love with was sold, I got in touch with the artist and am buying a work directly.

Alvinne · 07/07/2023 00:12

It's £1.3m to save you all having to waste time looking it up. Who cares, market sets the price.

mydogisthebest · 08/07/2023 08:13

At least you can see what it is a painting off unlike some of the crap at the Summer Exhibition.

Tracy Emin's contributions look like a toddler scribbled them and yet someone with far more money than sense has bought them
