To think that the 'see it, say it, sorted' railway message is really irritating

It's so fucking trite, every time I hear it I want to scream.

Hillrunning · 15/06/2023 18:11

Why?

Popsicle42 · 15/06/2023 18:11

Oh god, yes!! And it comes on after EVERY station. I hate it!!

Theunamedcat · 15/06/2023 18:12

What's more annoying is transport police cost money to text so I would need to top up my phone as its number isn't included in my package 🙃

IWFH · 15/06/2023 18:13

Hillrunning · 15/06/2023 18:11

Why?

No idea why it annoys me so much. I just hate it. (I'm on a train that's 15 minutes late at present which may contribute to my grumpiness).

LaBefana · 15/06/2023 18:40

I hate it because it's repeated so much by annoying voices on train public-address systems, it's patronising, and because 'sorted' used that way is an annoying Cockney type word. We're not all on East Endahs.

You may just have explained my reaction to it 😁

I loathe it too! It's hilarious the way she says 'sorted' in a posh accent trying to sound street!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 15/06/2023 18:45

Pretty sure Grant Shapps said it was going to be used less often, as it is one of the most annoying slogans ever!

strawberryicecream6464 · 15/06/2023 18:45

It's sort it.
Used to work at a station. Yes, used to say it in my sleep 😴

Really ?
that's a bloody worry if people need to report something and can't.

Wicksytricksy · 15/06/2023 18:46

Yes so annoying. And the one time I did have to contact transport police to try to sort an issue they were useless.

strawberryicecream6464 · 15/06/2023 18:46

I know it's sorted
But we used to argue over it Smile
When announcing it over the tannoy i preferred sort it

peachicecream · 15/06/2023 18:47

It's not, it's sorted. Google it.

And yes OP it is a bit annoying, I agree, but then a lot of effective campaigns are a bit annoying - it sticks in your memory!

Womanofcustard · 15/06/2023 18:50

Yes it’s really annoying,I am swearing under my breath every time.
i found the transport police helpful the one time I had to use them. Unfortunately they couldn’t really help - because the relevant CCTV camera wasn’t working. So not bloody sorted!

Greengreented · 15/06/2023 18:50

It seems to have odd punctuation in places too, with the “see it, say it” bit attached to the previous sentence (which I can’t remember), then a full stop then “sorted”. Does that happen everywhere or is that a Merseyrail speciality?

Mummy08m · 15/06/2023 18:51

Yanbu. I hate the way it doesn't rhyme.

Like do you remember the covid slogan Hands Face Space?! Hands didn't fit the rhyme!

I used to try and come up with proper rhyming ones, like Head, Spread, Scrubbéd or Paws, Maws, Floors. So much better...

fihawo · 15/06/2023 18:51

Are you sure you've got this right?

Yes, indeed, it's really super annoying. But what I hear is "See it, say it, sod it!"

"Sorted?" ... Huh? Surely not. Couldn't be.

999 is free.

101 isn't, nor are texts, unless covered by your call/data plan.

IWFH · 15/06/2023 18:53

It was written as 'sorted' on the message board of my Avanti west coast late train into Euston.

But I suspect I'd find 'sort it' just as annoying anyway.

OP posts:
Plankingplanks · 15/06/2023 18:57

Yes, it is also really ineffective..... You remeber that bit, but I bet hardly anyone remembers the number you are meant to say it to?

IWFH · 15/06/2023 19:01

And now some twat on a tanoy has just shouted it at me again at Clapham Junction.
Bastards.

OP posts:
InSpainTheRain · 15/06/2023 19:04

I think when it first came out it was OK, but it's been the phrase for far too long. Needs something else now.

That's annoying Cockney talk as well.

TheChippendenSpook · 15/06/2023 19:06

It's definitely 'sorted.'

PuffinsRocks · 15/06/2023 19:08

I always thought it was "sort it" as well until I saw a poster. Sorted is annoying to me because it's asymmetrical with the way the rest of it is written so it feels unbalanced and clunky (and forced).
It's just bad writing.
