Problem family making a noise in the garden....

Bloody magpies who live in a tree in our garden. They must have a domestic about three or four times a week, bastard things 🤣. I love them, but still....

And the constant noise from the little birds nesting in other trees as well.....

Then there are the seagulls that swoop down just to laugh at my dog and set him off barking....

AIBU to think that birds are terrible neighbours? 🤣🤣

I'm currently in my hammock in my garden listening to the birds singing. I'm on here and I've a glass of wine and I'm happy as anything! Birdsong is preferable to the normal base of next doors radio or his bloody big gob shouting over it!

DIsForDelightful · 10/06/2023 16:45

But the yobbo starlings aren't about at the moment so....

TheChosenTwo · 10/06/2023 16:45

I fucking hate birdsong at 4am! I sleep with my windows open all year round but actively get up and close them at stupid o’clock when they start banging on 😤
we were just in our garden and a bird was swooping down almost on top of us, dh said it was a red kite - I said it was a feathery bastard 😂

mummymeister · 10/06/2023 16:46

dont forget to say hello Mr/ms magpie three times every time you see one on their own or its bad luck. dont know how they do it mind you. they must have super powers.

NormalForNuneaton · 10/06/2023 16:46

We had a teenage gang (of magpies) around here last year ... always yelling at each other, hanging around our garden, being threatening .

Thugs.

ProudThrilledHappy · 10/06/2023 16:51

I feel your pain op. I’ve got a pair of pigeons nesting in a tree next to my house and because I’m a sucker for birds I have a feeder and bird bath here too. When they land on the conservatory roof it’s a distinct thud and the sound of them crossing the roof is like a hammering. My garden is steadily getting covered in grey shit-splats of the most astonishing sizes. Who know pigeon shits were this big?!

FadedRed · 10/06/2023 16:55

Our hedge is like a multi-storey bird nursery.
And the fornicating pigeons on the roof/fence/lawn/wall…

I'm not a fan of magpie noise, but I love other bird song. It's quietened down where I am and was at its loudest in about April. I think the local birds have found mates here now.
Blackbird song is my favourite. Also wrens. I like the look of crows, jays and robins

stbrandonsboat · 10/06/2023 16:58

I've got starlings. They're so noisy they've even driven the magpies away. They're getting through two half coconuts, three fat balls and four bowls of mixed seeds/suet/mealworms a day at the moment. One of them yells constantly at the cat as well 😂

So1invictus · 10/06/2023 17:00

I've got those green parroty things beating the living daylights out of each other in the apricot tree hanging over the yard.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 10/06/2023 17:02

I live next to a rookery. A massive, massive, rookery...

Bluevelvetsofa · 10/06/2023 17:04

We’ve got a squirrel that steals bird food. In doing so, it’s managed to ruin my beautiful rose scrambling over the pergola, breaking off branches. We’ve had to remove the bird feeder. Another thug.

LacewingOrpington · 10/06/2023 17:04

I love rooks! They always seem to be having so much fun together. They’re so loud they currently scary to our new puppy.

Anoushkaka · 10/06/2023 17:05

Hate birds. Don't know how anybody enjoys the dawn chorus.

fancreek · 10/06/2023 17:07

Is it magpies that kind of yack to one another?

HazelBite · 10/06/2023 17:10

When I take out food for the local birds Russell bellows/alerts from our oak tree then his mate Sheryl appears along with the local Magpies and Squirrels.
A spirited fight ensues whilst my cat cowers in the shrubs.
I love them all😄

missingthewinchesterboys · 10/06/2023 17:12

Yeah we've got flocks of parakeets, magpies, wood pigeons and foxes having sex in the driveway.

I'm going to get that app to see what else.

The magpies really hat the cats and dog and go mental at them.

CurlewKate · 10/06/2023 17:21

You should try living next to ducks in the mating season. They are appalling birds- gang rape at dawn....

TheFireflies · 10/06/2023 17:22

Ah I love the birds in my garden. Sadly I had to take down our bird feeders because of rats ☹️

FreyaBentos · 10/06/2023 17:40

I’ve been woken at 3-50am every bloody morning this last week by Mrs Seagull screeching at her 3 (fluffy and cute) week old babies. Sadly, this afternoon, I notice we are down to 2 babies.
I could do without my car being splattered with gull poo… god knows what they eat, but you could tarmac a road with the horrid stuff!
Mr and Mrs Blackbird are calling to eat other in the hedge.

Tinkerbyebye · 10/06/2023 17:45

I have fat bastard wood Pigeons waking me up each morning as soon as it’s light squawking and fighting in the tree near me.

they are without doubt the fattest nosiest birds I have ever seen, who then kindly poo over everyone’s cars in the vicinity

hateful birds. Now magpies, no issues at all quiet as mice

LakieLady · 10/06/2023 17:46

I've managed to ignore the shouty magpies, but I think it's them that tap dance on the roof for fucking hours on end every morning. How birds can be so sodding heavy on their feet, I have no idea.

God knows how, but my NDN reckons they broke her tv aerial. She had to get a new one fitted.

longtompot · 10/06/2023 17:51

My dd has an irrational hatred for pigeons due to their coo cooing from first light and not stopping!
I have recently started to get irritated by the sparrows. Mainly the males who like to sit and shout for, what feels like, hours at a time. I've taken to asking them what's up and they fly off!

mondaytosunday · 10/06/2023 17:55

Ugh I had crows that took residence in a neighbours tree. Extremely antisocial and not even good to look at!

HeyMicky · 10/06/2023 17:55

We have starlings. The neighbours hate them and MIL disapproves but they make me laugh and I feed the greedy buggers every year until they head off.

The cheeky squirrel who lives in the pub visuals to eat our peanuts.

Robins next in our garage every year

We also have peacocks in our village who come to visit shit on our cars
