AIBU to be gutted that this shopping website has ceased trading out of the blue? I loved it. Discounts, free next day delivery and the option to use PayPal in 3. Anyone else fed up??

What is Bother?

It's an online shopping service (and smartphone app) for home supplies that prides itself on its ethical and sustainable credentials.

You won't be able to pick up everything for tomorrow's dinner, but you will be able to sort your cleaning, baby and pet supplies and stock up your pantry with non-perishables. There are aisles for:

• Your food cupboards
• Alcohol
• Drinks
• Laundry
• Household cleaning
• Toiletries and health

Never ever heard tell of them, so that says something in itself.

Well it seems fairly pointless. If I can order cornflakes and jam but not bread and milk why would I use them over a supermarket delivery?

So it's like Deliveroo/Uber Eats grocery delivery?

Now that the supermarkets have their own rapid deliveries I think it was always going to be a hard sell.

Why is it typical? You asked if anyone else was "gutted", several people told you it wasn't as well known as you assumed and lots of us had never heard of it.

I offered the fact that I had never heard of them in response to OP's dismissive comment about only 3 people having not heard of them 🤷‍♀️

I used to use them for bulk ordering formula millk powder because we don't do online grocery shopping.
Just placed a bulk order of detergent & other cleaning stuff a few weeks ago so I'm glad that arrived before they went bust.
They used to give you free sample of Tony's chocolate and they were indeed called We Bother when they started.

their usp was you could get all your ‘boring’ stuff from them and just shop for the fresh stuff I think?

I just assumed they’d be more expensive, definitely than Lidl for example

Well with high interest rates, COL crisis and a potential credit crunch I'm expecting more of this. Lots of zombie companies surviving on credit and not making any money out there.
