Apparently camillas eyes looked "darting and suspicious" on the balcony : it was the crown.

All I can say is you try and balance a huge heavy priceless crown on your head and see how freely you can move your eyes! Both Charles and camilla looked uncomfortable when the fly past went on!

crazy, all this obsessive over-interpretation of every twitch of an eyebrow or blink. So many people with a massive agenda trying to find something to fasten it on, so many people clearly need a bit more to worry about in their own lives

Butteredtoast55 · 06/05/2023 23:11

MN has been insane today. Camilla has particularly been singled out as being too serious/smirking/looking drugged/having shifty eyes/looking like she's won/being terrified/being smug/looking like she's got nicotine withdrawal/being too pleased with herself/looking like she'd rather be anywhere else.
That's before the deeply unpleasant personal stuff about her appearance. Horrible comments by people who have some very peculiar ideas.

Ostryga · 06/05/2023 23:21

She was giving the ultimate side on her way in tbf. Even my incredibly royalist grandma who watched the queen’s coronation commented on it!!

Queen Camilla did not want to be there

tofutti · 06/05/2023 23:34

She did look shifty though.

There is nothing queenly about her.

And Charles looks tired and miserable.

why on earth should she look "queenly"😂

tofutti · 06/05/2023 23:59

Because she’s supposed to be a queen apparently.

Triflenot · 07/05/2023 00:05

I imagine if I was trying to stop something fairly heavy falling off my head, (never mind the value of it) that I’d be pretty cautious of moving my head very much too. There’d be plenty of side eye going on.

OrwellianTimes · 07/05/2023 00:05

They both looked pretty tired to me. Rather sanguine plastic grins. Not easy going into something knowing you’ll be judged and dissected by the world media for every single move you make.

90stalgia · 07/05/2023 00:06

I think she was just worried about it falling off. It weighs more than my large cat.

OrwellianTimes · 07/05/2023 00:06

Ha. I meant to type sardonic not sanguine.

Lucinda7 · 07/05/2023 00:11

I think they are just old. I am 70 so not being ageist! I have a rest in the afternoon. Their schedule is rather punishing at their age. I thought the king looked quite tearful but improved when the ceremony was over.

Daftnotstupid · 07/05/2023 00:13

But what hasn't been noted was the beautiful loving look she gave him in the service and that it was reciprocated. I feel I was the only one who saw it!

Brazilagogo · 07/05/2023 00:13

I absolutely don’t blame the woman for looking less than comfortable at all points today. Can you imagine having something so heavy on your head and having to keep it there with so many people watching just waiting for something to go awry?

I remember the previous Queen saying she was terrified of the crown falling off during her coronation.

JamSandle · 07/05/2023 00:13

Everyone thinks they're a body language expert.

MaisieDaisyMay · 07/05/2023 00:15

Bloody hell, I'm 20 years younger and would have struggled to cope with today, let alone the gruelling week they've had.

the crowns are bloody heavy, didn't look to fit well and can you imagine the big fat fuss if the crowns had fallen off!

of course Charles looked upset at times, it's only his coronation because his mother died.

stop bloody nit picking.

Kittykatchunjy · 07/05/2023 00:20

I thought she looked beautiful, yes of course nervous but god who wouldn't be

CSIblonde · 07/05/2023 00:20

Facial expression wise, I thought she looked a bit anxious & "WTF have I got myself into". I mean at that age you are normally taking life slightly easier & there's not too much pressure , whereas the opposite applies now really .

Kinneddar · 07/05/2023 00:22

The late Queen said the crowns are really heavy and put a lot of pressure on your neck. She said she could barely move her head under the weight. I expect C&C had the same problem

TheUsualChaos · 07/05/2023 00:27

I agree they both looked tired and stressed at times and who can blame them. But let's just keep some perspective here, yes they are in their later years of life, but they never have to cook, clean, trudge to the supermarket, rely on buses to get around, worry if their pension will pay the bills....you get the point. Yes they will have a busy schedule at times which they will find tiring, but they also have a whole army of people to look after their every need. I think Catherine and William will take on the lions share in a few years anyway, they are more popular so it's good PR.

Livelovebehappy · 07/05/2023 00:31

Charles looked absolutely knackered by the end of it all. And who can blame him? He’s knocking on in years, and I honestly don’t know how he coped. It would be difficult for most people his age.

SmoothSeasDoNotMakeGoodSailors · 07/05/2023 00:37

I can't imagine they've been sleeping well let alone their age! I mean, I didn't sleep well before I got married with fear of something going wrong and that's without the world's eyes on you!

SammyScrounge · 07/05/2023 00:38

She was a nervous wreck from the outset. Then when the archbishop crowned her, he left the crown tilted slightly - she kept touching it. Poor soul, she was probably afraid it would fall off in front of millions. You could see she was walking very carefully. I was holding my breath till she was safely seated again.
Of course Charles looked tired. He's been dashing about all week and probably didn't
get a wink of sleep last night.

MeinKraft · 07/05/2023 00:39

They're old, they're new to the job, the world is watching, who wouldn't be stiff and awkward?!

Loria · 07/05/2023 00:39

I didn't watch it when it was on but saw the footage on the news and we all said she looked shifty in the abbey. That was before the crown went on. I think she was worried about Diana's ghost popping up.

PollyPeptide · 07/05/2023 00:44

Charles looked tired. But then I can't help seeing those pictures of him laughing with other world leaders and shaking hands with the crowd over the past two days and he looked fine. Maybe this was just a very serious and momentous occasion for him.

Canilla really struggled with her crown and when the archbishop put it on her head, she kept half lifting her arm as if he wasn't quite getting it right. Then he stuck her fringe in her eyes. And Charles kept sinking down on his throne and then suddenly sitting up straight. I felt sorry for them both and think they did really well. Those are really heavy on their heads.
