Apparently camillas eyes looked "darting and suspicious" on the balcony : it was the crown.

All I can say is you try and balance a huge heavy priceless crown on your head and see how freely you can move your eyes! Both Charles and camilla looked uncomfortable when the fly past went on!

MN has been insane today. Camilla has particularly been singled out as being too serious/smirking/looking drugged/having shifty eyes/looking like she's won/being terrified/being smug/looking like she's got nicotine withdrawal/being too pleased with herself/looking like she'd rather be anywhere else.
That's before the deeply unpleasant personal stuff about her appearance. Horrible comments by people who have some very peculiar ideas.

Exactly.

I felt Queen Camilla looked horribly nervous throughout most of the ceremony and actually quite terrified right before the crown was placed on her head (that 'smirk' was obviously more like a faint smile of relief that nothing had gone wrong!).

She looked lovely. Regal, dignified, clearly very loving towards her husband (who was also clearly very nervous and emotional throughout).

Long may she be around to continue to strongly champion victims of rape and domestic abuse, abused animals, seriously and terminally ill children, and to promote childhood literacy skills.

She was looking for that sniper on the roof.

MoreCloudsThanYouCanImagine · 07/05/2023 07:00

I thought she looked lovely too @ExpatInSlavikLand! I was praying that the crown stayed put - it looked heavy and uncomfortable

NowZeusHasLainWithLeda · 07/05/2023 07:06

I didn't come onto MN yesterday as knew the loons would be out in force, but agree that at their age I'd rather be on the sofa watching telly than being it.

They both looked anxious and nervous.
They both looked tired.
They both looked their ages.

All 3 of which are to be expected. Nothing to see here. Except perhaps
@ExpatInSlavikLand 's final paragraph, which the conspiracy theorists would do well to read before making their asinine wisecracks.

I thought she looked lovely. I'd like to see many mumsnetters balance around 2kg on their head and move as freely as usual. It's incredibly heavy and they both would have to be so careful.

👏🏼

It probably didn't help that no matter what she did or what her face looked like she'd get comments like this. She usually is very much in the background and unfussy

I know! Ridiculous!

But what hasn't been noted was the beautiful loving look she gave him in the service and that it was reciprocated. I feel I was the only one who saw it!

I saw it, I thought Camilla looked delighted, happy just kind of like omg this is it! I’d go as far as saying he little smiles lightened up the seriousness of it (without taking away from the solemnity). It’s a time of celebration too. Charles looked deep in thought, totally absorbed and focussed.

I think they both did very well. Charles comes across as someone who knows he has an uphill battle the old Monarchy is gone and he knows he has a limited period of time to define what he is leaving behind for William.

Sunscummailfail · 07/05/2023 07:40

I hope both of them have a cup of tea in bed and a nice long lie in this morning.

Necrotic · 07/05/2023 07:42

The’re both old … people forget how old they are, they were probably knackered. I don’t think my grandma would enjoy standing on a balcony waving with a massive thing stuck on her head either!

And this bitterness about Dianna needs to stop. Charles was forced to marry Dianna, he never loved her, he loved Camilla from the start and should have been allowed to marry her at the start! And Dianna wasn’t the angel people love to paint her out to be.

Lindy2 · 07/05/2023 07:50

She's not the most graceful and that crown looked heavy and awkward to balance.

She was concentrating on everything staying in place and upright. I would have too, if I'd been in her position!

I think her and King Charles looked much more relaxed towards the end of proceedings, when they knew everything had gone well.

@NowZeusHasLainWithLeda Thank you.

RedToothBrush · 07/05/2023 08:27

You have a fucking great big crown on your head worth millions and you've millions of people starring at you and you are supposed to be the very definition of perfection showing no anxiety, smiling perfectly in a way that can't be interpreted by people who want you to fail because you aren't the younger prettier woman and quite frankly all you care about at that moment is not tripping over and seriously injuring your 70+ year old body or that of your husbands, knocking the crown off the bloody balcony and being damaged beyond repair and making yourself into a national disaster.

Good luck with controlling your face throughout that level of pressure.
