To feel a bit said that we have nothing planned for this weekend?

There is a sense of celebration, everyone seems to be visiting family or having friends around for parties. We only have a small family who live far away, we have one dd..we haven't been invited anywhere and I haven't organised anything. I could have invited friends around but haven't .. now I have FOMO!

God no, home with nothing to do. No obligations, no preparations. Bliss.

PollyPeptide · 05/05/2023 19:10

There'll be loads of events going on around you. Look on your local FB sites.

MeinKraft · 05/05/2023 19:11

Have a little party at home or go to one of the street parties?

JulieHoney · 05/05/2023 19:12

I only know 3 people doing something for the occasion. The rest of us don’t give a stuff, apart from having a day off.

Weather’s going to be lousy on the whole.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 05/05/2023 19:12

Do something the . All the museums and NT type places are doing coronation events round here, go on your council website and look up what's available.

Allinadayswork80 · 05/05/2023 19:13

I love the sound of a relaxing free wkend but if you’re feeling disappointed and want to do something to celebrate have a look around locally, I’m sure there’s plenty of events going on that you could join in/attend.

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 05/05/2023 19:13

I can't think of much worse than celebrating the Coronation Grin

Feelinadequate23 · 05/05/2023 19:14

There are so many local events to go to. Dress in red, white and blue, stick a crown on DD if she’s below aged 10 and go have a ball at the local picnic/village Green Party/ concert in the park, etc etc

Xrays · 05/05/2023 19:14

We’re going into Norwich for the day to look round the shops … ! Nothing coronationish. I’m hoping it will be quiet because everyone round here seems to have party plans etc!

Whiskyinajar · 05/05/2023 19:17

I'm working all day but because I.work with people j am hoping to have a few chats and banter.

Swishhh · 05/05/2023 19:21

Channel your FOMO into planning for the next bank holiday weekend.

Ahem!

I will be wearing a crown and I'm 59!

We need to get some last minute baby stuff before my maternity leave so I'm banking on the shops being a bit quieter....not at all interested in the coronation but most of my family are so I'll be muting the group chats until Tuesday.

MadEyeMoodysEye · 05/05/2023 19:31

I'm not remotely interested in the coronation. I've nothing planned for tomorrow but watching that vulgar display won't feature.

FabFitFifties · 05/05/2023 19:32

How old is dd?

Riverlee · 05/05/2023 19:34

I’ve not been invited to anything either and we’re not having a street party either.

SecretSwirrel · 05/05/2023 19:35

Loads of people aren’t celebrating. My Saturday will be as it normally is.

Coronationstation · 05/05/2023 19:35

I don’t know anyone who’s doing anything special for the coronation! In fact, most people I know are going out of their way to avoid anything to do with it and I’m not aware of any local events taking place.

EwwSprouts · 05/05/2023 19:36

Nothing happening round here.

Why not a little indoor picnic for your DD's benefit? And cake! It's going to be raining most places so you could end up feeling happy with your choices..

I do that when the European or World Cup are on. It's like midnight shopping during the day. Lol.

SchoolShenanigans · 05/05/2023 19:40

Don't let the hype make you feel bad. If you want to get out, there'll be plenty of school fetes / local arrangements im sure.

But otherwise just enjoy a lovely long weekend!

phoenixrosehere · 05/05/2023 19:41

The only coronation I’m watching tomorrow is of Queen Charlotte. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story was released on Netflix yesterday and I’m going to be binge watching it tomorrow. DH is doing next to nothing and the boys will be in the garden and/or practicing their parkour skills in the living room.

PollyPeptide · 05/05/2023 19:42

I find it hard to believe there are places where absolutely nothing is happening? I'm at my mums care home tomorrow. Then we're off for an royal afternoon tea, then the lighting of a beacon. Then Sunday, cake and prosecco on the green. Then Monday off to a garden party. All open to local people. I'm sure if you look, you'll find plenty of stuff going on.

PolkaDotMankini · 05/05/2023 19:44

There are lots of events happening round our way. The local churches and the cathedral are doing "bring a picnic" screenings. The council's doing a procession through the town centre and an outdoor screening. All of them are free.

I'm sure you could join in something local if you fancy it.

FrownedUpon · 05/05/2023 19:49

I think events like this can make people feel lonely. If you don’t have many friends, it can highlight that. Look for a community event or hold your own little party.
