Seriously Moonpig! A card to the King?!

A friend has posted this photo on Facebook tonight ...

Apparently she's received an email from Moonpig suggesting celebratory cards to send to the King?

Do people really do things like that? I thought it must be a joke!

How many trees will be cut down to send him lots of cards?

Also it doesn't look like the card is free. Moonpig must hope they are going to be making loads of money from this!

God some sycophant will love that. 🤢

I would imagine so, they're a card-selling business.

Westfacing · 04/05/2023 05:08

Your Royal Highness ?

Your Royal Highness ?

Yeah, funny they got that wrong.

Isitsixoclockalready · 04/05/2023 05:27

I wouldn't personally send one but they've clearly established that there might be enough of a market for it.

monotonemusings · 04/05/2023 06:20

Good marketing

Your Royal Highness ?

Oops, off with their heads!

Dragonsandcats · 04/05/2023 06:24

I agree, it is stupid but out of interest what’s technically wrong with the “Your Royal Highbess”. It’s written to KC3, so isn’t that correct?

The title for him is Your Majesty.

Oh yes thanks!

DisquietintheRanks · 04/05/2023 06:36

A fool and their money....

monotonemusings · 04/05/2023 06:37

Also it doesn't look like the card is free.

It says "send a free card to the king"

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 04/05/2023 06:49

If I could be bothered I would ask Moonpig where their version for atheists/pagans/humanists/people of faiths other than Christianity was.

The phrase God save the king is only relevant to people who have signed up to Christianity.

Why are we to congratulate him? All he has achieved to become king is not dying before his mother did.

Your Royal Highness ?

Exactly! Why do so many people seem incapable of remembering “Your Majesty”? It’s not like it’s difficult.

The card is free - I’ve just ordered one to test the theory.
Sorry!

dudsville · 04/05/2023 08:41

This did make me laugh, but as an aside I always thought "highness" was a funny term anyway. Middleness, lowness, highness...

Qilin · 04/05/2023 09:00

I looked on my Moonpig account and the card is free - you have to enter a code.
But you do need to add an address and I'm not sure the postage is free - didn't want to 'buy' one to test it out fully.

I've got a box of something he'd like (or like to be) in my bathroom cabinet - I might send him that.

I feel I should be able to work this one out but I can't. What is it?

It's because you have to believe that the king/queen is chosen by God and therefore is Special in order to believe in the monarchy. If you don't believe there is a god (I don't) the king/queen is just an average person (which of course they are - unless they can fly/cure cancer/breathe fire/regrow their heads).

The brand now rhymes with anthrax, and is soft and absorbent ;)

“Exactly! Why do so many people seem incapable of remembering “Your Majesty”? It’s not like it’s difficult.”

Because most people don’t care 🤷‍♀️

Though a member of the family can seemingly be in two places at once. So, who knows?

Funny they don’t go for the shorter-to-say option then if they don’t know or care - it’s just a matter of getting terminology right, to me, not a case of respect for the person in question. Like calling a captain lieutenant, say.
