Seriously Moonpig! A card to the King?!

A friend has posted this photo on Facebook tonight ...

Apparently she's received an email from Moonpig suggesting celebratory cards to send to the King?

Do people really do things like that? I thought it must be a joke!

How many trees will be cut down to send him lots of cards?

Also it doesn't look like the card is free. Moonpig must hope they are going to be making loads of money from this!

I received the same email , it's really a waste of paper and pretty tasteless. I've ordered from them before but won't be again

BelindaBears · 04/05/2023 10:08

Card company in encouraging-people-to-send-pointless-cards shocker!

They really are quite twee.

FFS he's going to be forever associated with anthrax. How could anyone EVER take either of them seriously?

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 04/05/2023 11:17

We did them at brownies as an activity. That's about as far as I'd go

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 04/05/2023 11:45

Bellatrix exactly. It is so discriminatory against non Christians. Yes, 0lip service to a handful of other religions in the ceremony but in what way does it include atheists for example? Or non religious beliefs such as pagans?

Moonpig have just lost my custom.

DarrellRiversCriminalBehaviourOrder · 04/05/2023 12:31

I know not everyone is in favour of the monarchy, but are people seriously claiming that a coronation-themed card with the phrase God Save The King is discriminatory against non-Christians?

I mean, there are so many cases you can make against the monarchy without having to resort to that.

I feel I should be able to work this one out but I can't. What is it?

Tampax

Your Royal Highness is correct, although Charles has stayed his preference as Majesty.

EmmaEmerald · 04/05/2023 12:43

It will get them a lot of new customer data I guess.

Arginalia · 04/05/2023 12:50

Hmm, like Charles the Organic Environmentalist is going to be thrilled if he's bombarded with mass-produced cards.

Your Royal Highness is correct, although Charles has stayed his preference as Majesty.

Please explain!

Inthesamesinkingboat · 04/05/2023 17:41

I’m going to send one to my dog. He deserves it, and should be king.

Your Royal Highness is correct, although Charles has stayed his preference as Majesty.

No it isn’t. It’s for members of the royal family other than the monarch and consort. Kings and queens are Your Majesty and it has nothing to do with preferences, it has been the established form for centuries.
