Pigeons on next doors roof

AIBU to want to take them all out. They are nesting on my neighbours roof. They apparently love them. They are pooping all over my garden and pecking at my flat roof.

Are you sure they aren't homing pigeons? It's unlikely they're the ones pooping on your washing, they can't fly at the same time. And they're also very unlikely to be spreading germs and disease. YABU

They'll be shagging away. The only birds I see shagging are pigeons. It's 2 gardens and roof over from me, but yeah - meeting point. Day or evening. Don't care who's watching. Fucking dirty shaggers. Poor female left look all a bit confused. Boundaries, I shout!

I don't really. But yes, pigeons can be absolute arseholes. They'll eat your seedlings whilst shitting everywhere.

What was the question?

If your neighbour is encouraging pigeons on to her property and this encroaches on your space via acidic shit, then call the council.

It is spreading - I don't know - acidic birdshit at the very least that could affect paintwork on your car, or indeed that priceless structure of metal and paint that you erected in the garden. Ruined! Priceless! Insurance! Dirty shaggers!

What about getting one of those fake birds of prey for your garden?

redavocado · 30/04/2023 05:26

Oh they're awful! I think those that think otherwise must live in less built up areas. We're in London and I'm sick of the things.

I can confirm they love solar panels. We've just had mesh fitted around ours so they can't nest under them anymore. The buggers are still hanging around the gutters of our house and next door.

Flying rats! Google pigeon proofing and in the mean time…

  • put your cat on a diet to keep him motivated
  • buy scare tape
  • buy a plastic owl or bird of prey and move it around your garden often
  • consider a kite style bird of prey too
  • water pistol with diluted peppermint oil - spray where you don’t want them to best

I like wood pigeons. They sit on the TV aerial and shout down the chimney.

GallbladderWoes · 30/04/2023 06:38

The biggest problem with pigeons is that they breed pretty much all year so waiting for nesting season to be over could mean waiting til November.

QuintanaRoo · 30/04/2023 06:44

I love wood pigeons, I put food out for the birds and always get two pigeons which come every day. Last few years they’ve nested in our ivy.

Irridescantshimmmer · 30/04/2023 06:46

I have to witness pigeons making babies on my nieghbours' roof.

I look away, and remind myself it could be worse, at least I'm not seeing the nieghbours at it.

We demonize all sorts of animals. Every animal has a place in the world; they fulfil a function. Some people don't like elephants;or sharks; or badgers or one of any number of animals. Even wasps have a use to the environment , just leave them be.I live on the coast, and we have seagulls and other types of coastal birds. Some people demonize them too.

Pigeon Wellington is yummy and our son’s favourite food is pigeon popcorn. Pigeon problem solved.
