Do you think we stand a chance this year? This song has become such an earworm to me.

I think if she can control her pitchy issues (bit iffy at the pre- Eurovision European shows) she’s got a good chance of being top10- last time I looked she was odds on top 8. Fingers crossed! But I think this one is all Sweden’s!

Lollygaggle · 23/04/2023 19:02

I love Spain , but don't think it will win , I suspect Sweden won't as often female big songs don't do as well as expected. I wonder if Finland will do it?
Top 10 to 12 for this if her live performance is better than the pre parties. Admittedly the sound is not great but very breathy and pitchy. I suspect they will tone down the dancing .

Meredusoleil · 23/04/2023 19:06

I really love our entry and said right from the start, I think we've got a good chance this year 🤞

TheSaturdayAfternoonnessOfIt · 23/04/2023 19:10

I think she'll do well, but I don't think we will win it.

RaininginDarling · 23/04/2023 19:12

Interesting. I love Eurovision and thought our entry last year was fantastic. But I'm very disappointed in this year's entry: generic euro pop to my ears. I'll be surprised if we're not back at the bottom but will be happy to be proved wrong.

Lollygaggle · 23/04/2023 19:15

We won't be at the bottom , the jury votes are in and although she's not in many top 3s she appears in quite a lot of the jury votes.

Friendlybreadbin · 23/04/2023 19:16

I like it, bit formulaic but very catchy. I reckon left hand side of the scoreboard. Ukraine will win again.

thecatsthecats · 23/04/2023 19:17

It's a good entry, but we're not playing to win, so I think firmly the lefthand side of the table, which is a respectable result.

I personally hope Loreen doesn't win, because she's a ringer - Sweden just want it to be their turn again! Her song is pretty shallow in content, and I don't like her under-enunciation of the lyrics.

Give me Queen of Kings (payback for Norway for Keiino!) or Cha Cha Cha any day.

NerrSnerr · 23/04/2023 19:18

It's ok but I don't think it's win. I'm team Finland with Cha Cha Cha. That is an absolute banger.

SockGoddess · 23/04/2023 19:20

Hmmm I find the song a bit boring and it sounds like the tune has been pieced together from 2 or 3 other songs, if that makes sense. But it is quite Eurovision-y, so I think it will go down well.

I'm actually glad it's (IMO) a bit weak compared to last year's. Sam Ryder was very one-off and OTT (in a good way) and it would n't be good if someone was trying to repeat that and falling short. Instead it's just kind of... bogstandard.

(Bet it wins now...)

InglouriousBasterd · 23/04/2023 19:21

Love the Austrian entry too!

WoodenFloorboards · 23/04/2023 19:23

Left hand side, assuming she does a good job for the jury performance. Somewhere between 8 and 12.

WoodenFloorboards · 23/04/2023 19:26

Nobody saying that she'll definitely finish bottom because it's all about politics and the other countries are all jellus haterz/Brexit yet??

Those posters seem to have gone a bit quiet in the last year, can't think why.

Missthesummersun · 23/04/2023 19:35

It's a good song and catchy but I don't think it's a winner sadly. It's no Sam Ryder from last year.
Sweden is most likely to win in my opinion.

Phos · 23/04/2023 19:36

No I don’t think it will win but I do think it will spare us the ignominy of nil points. I think Norway have a decent chance. I really hope Sweden don’t win; it’s a boring song but people seem to have some kind of obsession with Loreen, no idea why. And if Ukraine win out of sympathy again they may as well can the whole thing.

mathanxiety · 23/04/2023 19:45

I think the UK entry is great.

Love France and Spain, and I hope one or the other wins. Sweden is a strong contender though.

Other likes - Austria, Armenia, Netherlands, Czechia.

Not really keen on Norway, though I suspect she'll do well. Same goes for Finland.

Oysterbabe · 23/04/2023 19:57

I don't think we'll win but I like it and hope it does well.

Agree with this.

I've been listening to the 23 playlist all week and it's like we've gone back to 2005. The UK entry could be Serbia/Azerbaijan 20 years ago. Generic pop. Instantly forgettable.

It's no vintage year, that's for sure (I thought last year was one of the best recent years) Also disappointed to see so many back to singing in English. Part of the Eurovision fascination for me was always the languages.

I like Ireland and Italy. A couple more might grow on me but nothing has leapt out yet.

Interesting that Spain has gone full on Duende after that cavorting half nekkid woman last year.

@WoodenFloorboards Shall we see if Greece and Cyprus lob douze points further afield first? I don't think the UK getting shit points has ever been political. It's because since the mid 80s (with the strange exception of Katrina and the Waves) we've had shit songs. Until last year.

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 23/04/2023 20:10

Sweden will win. We’ll be left have side

CharlotteStreetW1 · 23/04/2023 20:23

It's a real earworm for sure but I fear she's not up to it (live) performance-wise. I think closing the show will benefit her and I think she'll get a lot of goodwill points.

I'm usually quite good at predicting the winner but I'm stuck this year. I like loads but my favourite (this week anyway 😆) is France.

Fairytale, like Euphoria, was a massive fan favourite but his second entry tanked so I'm hoping Loreen does an Alexander Rybak rather than a Johhny Logan as it's sooo derivative of Euphoria.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 23/04/2023 20:24

Also, if you sing the French entry to yourself. it will almost certainly morph into "I wrote a song" in your head. Weird!

CharlotteStreetW1 · 23/04/2023 20:26

Lollygaggle · 23/04/2023 19:15

Are you a time traveller? 🤨😄

LlynTegid · 23/04/2023 20:27

Last year was an unexpected bonus I feel.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 23/04/2023 20:39

LlynTegid · 23/04/2023 20:27

Last year was an unexpected bonus I feel.

I agree. We were in Turin and it's one of the reasons I wasn't fussed about going this year - I don't think that night will ever be topped, even if we win.

mathanxiety · 23/04/2023 21:01

Amazed someone likes Ireland - IMHO, it's the biggest pile of shite we've ever dished up at Eurovision.
