What was this M&S dessert - custard layer, cream layer, I think caramel maybe?

I used to love it but haven't seen it for quite a few years! Does anyone else remember?

It had the sort of layering a trifle does, but no fruit or jelly. Can't remember if there was sponge at the bottom but don't think so?

Anyone know what I'm on about?

Was it frozen?

forfuckssakewhatsthisnow · 18/04/2023 15:54

No, in the chilled section. In a single serving size pot.

Definitely not creme caramel, which is what comes up when I try to google!

YES!! I can't remember any more about it than what you've said but it was a mainstay when I was growing up. Haven't seen it for many, many years now but I can taste it so clearly. It came in individual pots, didn't it?

BCBird · 18/04/2023 15:56

That is going to drive u bonkers till you remember it🙄

PollyPeptide · 18/04/2023 15:58

You mean in individual pots? I've never tried one but I've seen them in other supermarkets.

Like a sundae? A toffee or caramel sundae?

redspottedmug · 18/04/2023 16:02

Syrup sponge puddings, food of the gods. They don't taste quite as good as they used to sadly, back in the 90s - maybe they use artificial sweetener these days?

familyissues12345 · 18/04/2023 19:37

Well that's 2 syrup sponge trifles sat in my basket now...!

forfuckssakewhatsthisnow · 18/04/2023 16:51

@Jourdain11 Yep that one Smile thank you!

They've got them in my (small) local M&S Food, but I think they must be high popularity because there are often none left in the evening!

EVHead · 18/04/2023 22:46

Dammit I want this now! 😩

ArnoldRimmerGivingQuicheAChance · 18/04/2023 23:08

I am definitely looking for this pudding in M&S tomorrow - everything I like in a pot!!!

Nice with some raspberries on top, if you have them 😊

The syrup sponge desserts are £2.10 for an individual pot, yes it's 150g, but that's because it's heavy, it's still just the size of an individual yoghurt! Severely overpriced.

crackersforcrackers · 05/05/2023 14:50

@forfuckssakewhatsthisnow I was in M&S today and your thread randomly jumped into my head so I headed straight to the chilled desserts 😁I’m usually a chocolate only kinda lady but I have to say this is pretty tasty- pure golden syrup deliciousness on the bottom!
