To have a kids party during the coronation

My son is turning 5 and we are having a party for him at home, bouncy castle party tea etc. parents can drop off or stay for a drink.

Just realised it is during the actual coronation time, would this bother you?! Party is 1.30-3.30. I mean it wouldn't bother me, but would you still come?!

I would absolutely come, not interested in the coronation one bit 🤣

DappledThings · 17/04/2023 17:34

I would come, wouldn't think it was an issue.

Whenwilliberich · 17/04/2023 17:36

I wouldn’t be there - unless the telly was on and you were serving prosecco which is unlikely at most kids parties I’ve been to……….

whenever I host a kids party I do always offer prosecco though… it’s always such a struggle to get through without it!

PuttingDownRoots · 17/04/2023 17:39

My DD has an awards ceremony that afternoon. The clash wasn't realised until too late, no one is bothered.

testtrout · 17/04/2023 17:40

Yep I would come or my child would if it's a leave them type of party.
Honestly can't care less about the coronation and it will be on the TV on repeat anyway. Make it drop and run and you will not have an issue x

MRex · 17/04/2023 17:40

No problem, we are going to a kids party that day. Maybe put a TV out in the garden or indoors with the coronation playing for whatever adults want to look.

DelurkingAJ · 17/04/2023 17:42

I’m taking DS2 to a soft play party during the coronation…not something that bothers me.

ilovesooty · 17/04/2023 17:43

I'd come and I don't even have a child 🤣

It sounds a lot more fun than the coronation!

Skyeheather · 17/04/2023 17:43

Send the invites out and see what the response is.......

I wouldn't come because I'm looking forward to watching the Coronation and I'm not going to miss it to take DS age 6 to yet another bouncy castle party!

But reading the other responses it seems I'm a minority?

Bigtom · 17/04/2023 17:45

My daughter is having her party that day as well. Admittedly only one other child invited (day out + sleepover) but they accepted the invite without question.

Probably! The whole royal thing leaves me cold, but of course, if that's your thing, fill yer boots and ignore us non-fans!

gogohmm · 17/04/2023 17:47

If it's a party at home you can offer Prosecco and themed cupcakes if you want to acknowledge it, people can watch on iPlayer if they are that bothered unless they have another engagement of course

Okunevo · 17/04/2023 17:48

Won't it be available on catch up if people miss it? It's not like a sporting match where they might hear the result.

Strictly1 · 17/04/2023 17:48

Not interested in the coronation at all - I’d accept the invite.

Username917778 · 17/04/2023 17:49

We'd come, i don't know anyone that cares about the coronation personally.

SinnerBoy · 17/04/2023 17:49

Oh no! They've actually put the gold hat on William, just look at the replay! This one's definitely going to VAR!

GeraltsBathtub · 17/04/2023 17:51

I’m not a massive royalist but I was planning to watch it, I know Charles is no spring chicken but I feel like not too many of these happen during your lifetime. Could you shift the party so it’s before
or after the coronation?

PuttingDownRoots · 17/04/2023 17:53

I'd watch it if I had nothing better to do. Its just I do have stuff to do.
The actual plonking the crown on doesn't interest me, the parties etc do.

Bigpinktrain · 17/04/2023 17:53

It wouldn’t bother me one little bit. We are actually going to a museum exhibit that day. Considered putting our flat on air bnb and getting out of London but I’ve left it too late to arrange now

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 17/04/2023 17:58

My DCs are much less interested in the Coronation than I am so I would probably drop and run but be quietly annoyed about missing bits. (Although I know I could iPlayer it but it’s not the same.)

Clarabellawilliamson · 17/04/2023 17:58

Oh I'm glad most people wouldn't be bothered! There will be Prosecco or drink of choice on offer for the adults.....they can chose to drop off or stay.

Sorry, for a moment, I assumed that you were talking about King Charles....

Sewingdufus · 17/04/2023 18:14

No, I’ll be watching the coronation.

nomoredriving · 17/04/2023 18:17

If you DM me your address I'll come over to help out? Get away from the 🤴!
