Anyone waiting to hear for Primary school applications today?

Just thought I’d start a thread for anyone nervously waiting to hear because I can’t see one. I’m sure we will be ok, but I’m so nervous! Anyone know what time they get in touch? I’m guessing it’s an email? Anyone heard yet?

In my area they send the email at about 5pm. Assuming they press send and run out of the office to avoid the influx of questions 😂

Purplehyena · 17/04/2023 07:03

We can log onto our online system from 830am to find out. (If you applied online, if you applied by post you have to wait for a letter).

CarlaTheGnome · 17/04/2023 07:05

We got an email at 00:14 so very prompt over here in Wiltshire. First choice, hooray!

MrsHemsworth · 17/04/2023 07:07

We didn't receive an email but the decision is up on the council's school portal where we initially made the application.

IHeartGeneHunt · 17/04/2023 07:08

I got an email at just after midnight, first choice, very happy!

Oysterbabe · 17/04/2023 07:09

Ooo good luck!
I can't believe it's already been a year since this was us. Where does the time go.

MynameisJune · 17/04/2023 07:09

Ours was on the portal at 1am when I checked. Emails usually between 8-9am.

GoodChat · 17/04/2023 07:10

We got ours at 00:15 in Worcestershire

Theprincessisblanketed · 17/04/2023 07:12

I always sign up for the email as the portals get zillions of people trying to log in at once. Ours came at just last midnight.

WaitingWaitingWaitingWaitingWaiting · 17/04/2023 07:27

@OliviaPark oof that’s a long wait!

I’ve checked our local council and it’s just spinning. Hopefully preparing for the announcement and not just crashed under pressure!

I was convinced they did exactly that at 4.58pm.

When I met DP, who worked on the same floor at the time, he confirmed it - everybody waited by the door until GO GO GO and at the lift by 5pm as the first phone calls hit the out of hours message.

UnicornBoom · 17/04/2023 07:40

Ah sorry I just started a thread on this! Yes, me! Anxiety in this house. Good luck everyone.

PicaK · 17/04/2023 08:06

Don't forget to accept your place!
And also the school will know who has been offered places but won't know who has accepted them until the council tells them a week or so after the deadline - so you might not be contacted with welcome stuff until after that.

If you want to appeal remember it's not an appeal to their better natures but an appeal to demonstrate that the due process was not followed. Don't waste time by hand wringing about eg missing their friends - do look up the excepted circumstances which allow a school to go over pan and see if your child qualifies.
If you are appealing don't forget to go on the waiting list too. It's a separate process.

OhmygodDont · 17/04/2023 08:15

Ours was on the portal by 00:01 and emails by 6am. First and only choice thankfully but ours was an infants to jnr move.

Coffeeandbourbons · 17/04/2023 08:31

Got our first (and only) choice. It’s not competitive round here really but our nearest school is a bit grim, just a small concrete playground and parents standing in groups vaping at collection time. Second nearest is a nice Catholic one (we’re Catholic - well, DD and me, not DH) with a forest school and nice new building.

Nothing in the email said about having to accept the place just that the school would be in touch - do I need to get in touch and accept it? Confused

Different places do it differently. Here we ring the school.

When my oldest was first going to school you just clicked accept or decline online so I was very confused at first like errrr how do I accept because it didn’t say on the portal and the email hadn’t come out at that time.

gohomeroger1 · 17/04/2023 08:38

Yayy email came at half seven. First choice, so relieved. Portal not updated yet to accept place etc

avocadotofu · 17/04/2023 08:40

We're still waiting to hear. Congratulations to everyone who has their first choice! It's so stressful waiting!

Mizydoscape · 17/04/2023 08:40

First choice here as well! Email came around 2am. Very pleased as it's not our catchment school. We don't need to accept in this area they assume you're coming unless you tell them otherwise.

UnicornBoom · 17/04/2023 08:45

Portal just updated - got our first choice! No email yet. Good luck everyone!
