Me… Dh’s dad arriving at the holiday rental when it was dark, which had its own swimming pool. Us switching the lights on and coming out to him only to hear a splash and he’d fallen into the pool, suitcase and all! I still laugh a lot thinking about it years later.

Not everyone will fund this funny but years and years ago my friend and I heard about someone walking down a road and someone had stuck a grape out of a hedge to frighten them and we couldn't understand why that would frighten until someone informed us that it wasn't an actual grape as in the fruit but a type of pitchfork. Well we found this so funny that we were basically paralysed by laughing.

At a BBQ in my twenties one of our friends decided to go all caveman and crush a Redbull can on his forehead. It left a deep cut in a pointy arrow shape. His well-to-do mother picked him up later and asked what happened. He said a pigeon flew into him beak-first.

She completely bought it and was asking whether it was dazed, if they both fell to the floor etc. Picturing everyone's laugh-stifle faces still gets me.

One Christmas my mum turned to my dad and gran and said 'you are the weakest links, goodbye' and I'm in tears laughing just typing it now. God knows why.

I was taken on a barge holiday when I was about 14 with my mum and some extremely stuffy friends of hers, (Dad, Stepmum, Son) and the step mum and son had a really frosty relationship, especially then. We were always invited as human shields really, so it had been a really horrible tense few days and the cabin fever was UNREAL. Anyway we were in a really long queue to get through a lock, so had tied the barge to a tie point on the bank and me and my mum got off for stroll and to get away from the toxic vibes on board. It was a really busy bit of the route with a shops and a pub, and it was a really beautiful day, so I went for a nosy in the crowds of people . When I was walking back towards the barge my mum was standing on the bank and the barge was drifting slightly. I could see what was happening but my mum couldn’t hear me shouting as I ran towards her, and the rope tying the barge to the bank swept round in slow motion, swiping my mum just above the ankles and dragging her in tiny weeny shuffly steps that she had no control over right into the canal. She emerged a few seconds later with her tshirt right over her head, and nothing of her visible, apart from a giant, extremely tired bra. It still makes me die laughing 🙈

I was accompanying a pest controller on his rounds at the building where I worked. We were in a small side room with a very low ceiling when he opened up a wall inspection hatch and stuck his hand in to get to the trap inside. A mahoosive cockroach shot out, straight up his sleeve. He let out the most piercing scream I’ve ever heard, and jumped a foot in the air, his head left a perfectly round dint in the ceiling tiles. I’m crying now at the memory of him ripping his shirt off screeching “get it off me”. He’s in my phone contact list as cockroach man to this day.

That's got me 😂😂😂😂

Screaming in the Sistine chapel thread.

Every time I think about or re read it, cannot breath.
Best thread ever. (Snapped and farted a close 2nd)

This 😂

And my DH setting himself alight whilst lighting a candle in a church in Rome. His jumper sleeve literally went up in flames and I'd joked that both of us would burst into flames if we stayed too long.

At the checkout in Tesco, the assistant was on autopilot and staring off into the distance daydreaming or whatever. When he'd finished putting my shopping through and I'd paid, he ripped my receipt off the printer but instead of handing it to me, he crumpled it into a tiny little ball and threw it into my bag.

He then came to his senses and looked absolutely mortified when he realised what he'd done. It made me laugh all the way home because it was exactly what I do with my own supermarket receipts so I could understand why that was his automatic response to finding himself with a receipt in his hand.

You know the phrase "laughed so hard I spat out my drink"? I always assumed that was just a saying till I saw this with a mouthful tea and was so wracked by laughter that I had no choice but to spit it back into the mug (though it just sort of dribbled out rather than dramatically spraying everywhere).

I clicked on that and read it and I don't get it? What's the joke?

SchoolTripDrama · 15/04/2023 01:19

I was learning to drive once and had got a lift from my (now late) Dad who was a taxi driver. I noticed he hadn't indicated leaving the roundabout so I jokingly pointed it out (what with me being a new 'expert' of driving 🙄😆) and so he shot me a look and said "I've driven more miles in reverse than you have forward, so piss off!"

😆😆😆

Underminer · 15/04/2023 01:19

Thank you all for this thread, I absolutely needed the laughs. I’ve got tears rolling down my face, particularly at Hedge Guy, Speeding Gran and Cockroach Man.

@Galaxyinmypocket 🤣 we had an almost identical situation with our cat. My first baby had been born and somone bought us a helium balloon with some flowers. Somehow, my cat got the balloon ribbon hooked around his leg, panicked and flew about the house in a blur of panic and outrage that this silver round thing was chasing him. The balloon was bouncing off the walls, bonk, bonk, bonk, as he ran, hissing and yowling and trying to shake it off. We couldn’t help because he was moving so fast, and had his claws out, scrambling upstairs, hissssssssssss bonk bonk hissssss yoooww hiss hiss bonk hiss 🤣🤣 he was fine, but I could barely breathe because I was laughing so much.

My mam when we still lived at home once took a wrong turn going to the loo in the middle of the night (after a Saturday night out!).. ended up in my sisters room.. she slipped on a magazine, landing on my sleeping 17 year old sister (starkers) and broke her thumb 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

spiderlight · 15/04/2023 01:31

We had an issue with mice in our old kitchen. We put humane traps down, and whenever we caught one, DH would drive off to release it well away from the house. He took one off to the woods one morning, released it, came home and opened the trap to wash it out, and another mouse shot out of it and started doing the Wall of Death round our kitchen sink. DH let out the most piercing scream I have ever heard in my life and leapt about three feet into the air, and I then had to get the poor mouse into a box while absolutely helpless with laughter, because he was so traumatized that he had to go for a little lie down 🤣

Underminer · 15/04/2023 01:35

I love the tannoy ones. Mid 90s, not long after the horrific Fred West story broke, I was in a Merry Hill giant shopping centre and some poor sod who worked there was tricked into announcing, “Will Fred West please return to the Body Shop”. I should not have laughed, but everyone‘s reactions were so funny as we collectively processed what we had just heard.

The guy on YouTube with the Pooter makes me laugh. I can always cheer myself up with a good belly laugh at that.

CastlesinSpain · 15/04/2023 01:40

On holiday, evening meal at the hotel. One of the choices was lobster, which was served in its shell, and came with water in a fingerbowl with a slice of lemon floating in it. Overheard the man on the next table say to the waitress that he thought the meal was nice but the lemon sauce was much too thin... he'd poured the contents of the fingerbowl over his dinner.

It's weird what makes us laugh- I read the pizza thing and didn't even smile.

But watched the episode of Ghosts tonight where Mike gets into the inflatable ball suit and gets stuck in it and jammed in doorways/falls over and so on and I laughed aloud all the time. Daft physical stuff really makes me laugh- giant foam obstacle courses where people fall off floating balls into water No idea why.

My daughter sorted out the laundry on the airer earlier & came into the room horrified that someone had shrunk her soft grey ribbed blanket into a small square. I nearly died as it was actually a pillowcase I'd spilled a drink on the night before 🤣🤣🤣 we'd never noticed before that how similar they were 🤣

🤣🤣🤣 I love this!

Our older cat doing one of her many Houdini acts. She had a skin condition. Vet gave us lotion and suggested a surgical suit.

We put cat in suit making sure the little gap was in the appropriate anatomical location so she could do her business.

Next thing we know she's managed to wriggle her entire body out through the gap. Took her all of about three seconds if that.

To this day I wish I'd had my camera to hand. It was the combination of her cattitude, speed, and facial expression as she determinedly wriggled her entire not inconsiderably rotund body out of the hole...

You had to be there really.

you paint a very vivid picture 😂

My son then aged about 8 was trying out for a football team that he was desperate to join. We went along to watch, it was raining and had been for a while. One of the boys kicked the ball out of the pitch, so DH went jogging over intending to kick it back. He had his hands in his pockets, slips, slides and lands face down in the mud, about 2 feet away from the ball, hands still in pockets. He lay there for what felt like an eternity, wriggling trying to get his hands free, so he could get up.

My son denied knowing him

I'm in Vancouver and the funniest thing is watching the Canadian geese walking across the road in single file at pedestrian crossings 😂

Babyandmexox · 15/04/2023 01:54

Watching some man in the town centre swearing and trying to get his sandwich back off a seagull that just swiped it he was devastated and I was crying 😭🤣🤣
