To wonder why anyone uses Deliveroo?

Obviously sometimes there are restaurants that are exclusively on Deliveroo. But most of my local ones are on both Deliveroo and Just Eat. Just Eat is always about three or four quid cheaper on the added charges so wondering why anyone would choose deliveroo instead? I think both have equally dire customer service.

If you hate all delivery services/never want to get a takeaway because your leftover roast chicken lasts all week etc, great, please start your own thread discussion. :)

Always cold when it arrives too

Inkypot · 24/03/2023 20:10

I wonder this too and just always presume it's folk ordering from places that are only on there.
And no judgement from me on this post, I've just ordered a McDonald's from Just Eat 😋

CornishGem1975 · 24/03/2023 20:13

Free delivery through Amazon Prime.

Free delivery through Amazon Prime.

Is this a thing?? I never knew. I've been missing out!

slamfightbrightlight · 24/03/2023 20:15

I check all three (Deliveroo, JustEat, UberEats) before ordering because the pricing seems to change all the time!

Techno56 · 24/03/2023 20:16

I was going to say "because I don't want to go out" 🤣

I too check all three but yes, there is the Amazon prime free delivery thing.

Inca22 · 24/03/2023 20:17

I would never order again from Uber Eats as they wouldn't refund me for food not showing up. Deliveroo more expensive but never a hassle if I need a refund.

Albiboba · 24/03/2023 20:18

I literally had this exact same conversation tonight!
We ordered a last minute McDonald’s for dinner, previously we had always used ubereats but delivery is £4. Then we discovered it’s free on just eat.

Free delivery through Amazon Prime.

Is this true? Lol

Is this true? Lol

Yes! And they’re far quicker and more reliable than Uber Eats where we are

Woofappreciationday · 24/03/2023 20:20

I had the same issue as @Inca22. So we dont use Uber anymore. It was a £60 order as well. We have a just eat account but use deliveroo for the chain restaurants as they arent often on just eat.

DannyZukosSmile · 24/03/2023 20:21

Never used them OR Just Eat. Never would.

IWantToBeACat · 24/03/2023 20:22

Please can someone tell me about the Amazon Prime thingy? I have it but food delivery..? How do I do that then? 🤔😂

CremeEggThief · 24/03/2023 20:22

I have noticed in my area that a lot of places are coming off "Just Eat" lately so it might be as simple as only Deliveroo deliver?

WasIWasINot · 24/03/2023 20:22

I think it depends on why you’re using them. I tend to use deliveroo for last minute groceries as waitrose and sainsburys are both on there here…

That being said, now that tesco do woosh delivery I don’t bother as much with the other grocery shops any more.

Never used them OR Just Eat. Never would.

What an insightful perspective to the topic.

Pieceofpurplesky · 24/03/2023 20:23

I'd happily use anyone - no deliveries here at all!

girlfriend44 · 24/03/2023 20:25

Never use it, but plenty of lazy people do. Delivery Drivers make a bloody nuisance of themselves, parking where they shouldn't too.
Horrible the way it's got, with people ordering takeaways all the time. Perhaps in the future they 🙄won't need kitchens in houses.

mynameiscalypso · 24/03/2023 20:26

Laziness really.

CC4712 · 24/03/2023 20:26

I would never use deliveroo OR just eat. Both add £'s to each dish! I only order home delivery from local restaurants with their own delivery drivers or where I can pick it up.

FirstnameSuesecondnamePerb · 24/03/2023 20:26

None of these chains deliver to us.. Have to ring the one Indian that delivers and pay them a fiver!

mynameiscalypso · 24/03/2023 20:26

I meant just using Deliveroo rather than any of the other services in that I usually can't be bothered to check more than one service.

Sign into your Deliveroo account, then if you click Deliveroo plus you can link your Amazon account and get free delivery (assuming you have Amazon Prime).

ActDottie · 24/03/2023 20:27

Where I am there’s a lot more choice with deliveroo

I don’t think that’s too far off to be honest. Was recently working in Singapore and plenty of people told me they didn’t have a kitchen because they literally never cook. Food is really cheap at the hawkers’ markets and there’s so many takeouts and cheap deliveries. I can see this happening with younger people in the U.K. too - it’s just another example of the way society is changing.
