To wonder why anyone uses Deliveroo?

Obviously sometimes there are restaurants that are exclusively on Deliveroo. But most of my local ones are on both Deliveroo and Just Eat. Just Eat is always about three or four quid cheaper on the added charges so wondering why anyone would choose deliveroo instead? I think both have equally dire customer service.

If you hate all delivery services/never want to get a takeaway because your leftover roast chicken lasts all week etc, great, please start your own thread discussion. :)

I can tip on the app on deliveroo.

EmpressaurusOfCats · 24/03/2023 20:30

I switched from Just Eat to Deliveroo because Deliveroo has an option to tip the rider. All my orders have arrived hot & on time so far.

Never used them OR Just Eat. Never would.

Congratuwelldone, we're all very impressed with how superior a human you clearly are.

As for me, prefer deliveroo because free delivery + discounts in certain restaurants + most reliable in my area.

SmartestGiantInCity · 24/03/2023 20:34

TIL. Did not know about the Amazon thing or tipping!

I mean, I am aware of the concept of tipping.

There not saying they are a superhuman, just giving their opinion like you are.
I've never used them either and no desire too.
Laziness is Costly.

Luredbyapomegranate · 24/03/2023 20:38

Just Eat where I am is mostly trad takeaway rather than restaurants, so not the same offerings

Inca22 · 24/03/2023 20:38

@dottypotter I think OP was really clear - in that if you never use them, they weren't going to be interested in your response.

I wish people on here would learn to read

gazpachosoupday · 24/03/2023 20:38

I use to check all 3, but have recently found it is cheaper to order through the restaurant's own website (if not a chain) for the food and delivery, so now tend to do that.

Also didnt know about Amazon Prime.

With the tipping, there is a story (in the US) about a delivery driver refusing to deliver the food because the tip wasnt big enough

I can afford it.

As the OP said, if you never use them and never would, why post? The question is why would you use one over the other, so your opinion isn't really relevant to the question is it?

Never use it, but plenty of lazy people do. Delivery Drivers make a bloody nuisance of themselves, parking where they shouldn't too.
Horrible the way it's got, with people ordering takeaways all the time. Perhaps in the future they 🙄won't need kitchens in houses.

Judgemental much?

I rarely use them because I hate to pay extra for the same I can get by getting it myself or cooking at home via the food shop I do, but they have their place.

That said it Saved me post partum as a single parent household and post c section - not just for takeaways but household essentials etc

I think some of them are probably just busier and/or richer than you.

Sign into your Deliveroo account, then if you click Deliveroo plus you can link your Amazon account and get free delivery (assuming you have Amazon Prime).

Ah, thank you, don't actually have a Deliveroo account so maybe that's why I've never seen it on my Amazon Prime account. But my sister does, and Amazon Prime so I'll pass that on!
