Who actually donates to this? I never hear anyone talk about it in RL and never watch it myself? Becoming a bit tired now?

I’ve never watched any of these charity evening things . Someone sent me a link to the ghosts but with kylie and I didn’t think it was funny at all

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 18/03/2023 14:56

I think Lenny Henry still watches it, and all the old recordings, in his garret. 😞

Largeflaskoftea · 18/03/2023 15:31

I watched some of it for the first time in years (and years), I thought it was quite funny. Loved the two female musicians. Also enjoyed watching the clips of the early days (which I watched at the time).

Lenny Henry is not, and has never been, funny.

the80sweregreat · 18/03/2023 15:35

I did enjoy the two lady comedians , the traitor sketch was well done and the Eurovision one; Lulu was bearable and it was nice hearing Tony Hadley sing too.

Trinity65 · 18/03/2023 15:42

Like many others I watched in the 80s and into the 90s but not watched it in Years now .
Donated in the past as Children had Red Nose Day's in school over the years.
Youngest is 19 now.

the80sweregreat · 18/03/2023 15:57

I did love Kylie's coat in that sketch plus nice seeing the actress from Motherland in it too

AppleCrumbleIceCreamDream · 18/03/2023 16:01

The noses were on sale on amazon this year. I bought my son one and it broke before he could get it on, the paper was very thin and fragile.
As it was for charity I left it but was very unimpressed.
I did watch last night for the first time in years but it definitely doesn't have the same feel it used to.
The lady presenter in the red dress kept standing there with her legs crossed and it irrationally annoyed me.

Barannca · 18/03/2023 16:02

probably miserable but seeing so many local charities folding near me, or being less and less able to support children with mh, carers, or disability I can't really get into supporting charities further away.
Comic Relief supports a lot of projects in the UK including mental health charities and charities that support people in food poverty.

Itsnotfairhuff · 18/03/2023 16:03

I've stopped watching the live show but I like the one they have on today which is just a compilation of all the sketches.

the80sweregreat · 18/03/2023 16:09

I must be very easily pleased as I found all the sketches quite funny : the one with Dermot o Leary and the spoof charity single was amusing too. As was love island.
How they all keep a straight face I don't know
I don't tend to watch any charity night events , but I saw a trailer for last nights ones and was pleasantly surprised tbh. I only watched up to ten o'clock , so no idea what else was on after that.
Dawn French had Claudia winkleman aced.

Enfys1982 · 18/03/2023 16:12

I didn’t even realise it was this year on until Thursday. Definitely not as huge as it used to be. It was always very anarchic and fun but there was no atmosphere at all on last nights show was there. Felt very flat. I wonder if telethons have had their day?

familyissues12345 · 18/03/2023 16:13

I didn't notice Sainsbury’s weren't selling the noses anymore, was that from this year?

I saw some grow your nose thing in Homebase recently, didn't buy it though

GooseberryCinnamonYogurt · 18/03/2023 16:15

No! Don't think I've ever watched it!

electricmoccasins · 18/03/2023 16:16

It used to be huge, even chart songs. Remember 'Stonk' by Hale and Pace?

Enfys1982 · 18/03/2023 16:18

I remember it @electricmoccasins . Thought it was amazing at the time but now realise it was utter shit.

RightOnTheEdge · 18/03/2023 16:20

I don't watch Comic relief, Children In Need etc anymore. I haven't for years. I didn't even see any of the noses for sale or anything.
It used to be a big event when I was at school though and I remember it being a big treat being allowed to stay up and watch it.
My ds' school did a non uniform day so I sent in a pound for that.

the80sweregreat · 18/03/2023 16:25

My friend went to the ' secret policeman's ball ' charity show in the mid 80s which was a fore runner to the current tv events and she said it was funny. Richard Curtis started those ones I believe?
I think the tv format has had it it's day a bit , but it's not on every year like CIN is and that is a bit tired in places too. I did enjoy the sketches, but it must be hard to come up with different things each time or find the actors to do it.

Laiste · 18/03/2023 16:27

Knew about it because youngest DDS school doing non-uniform for a £1 day.

Yesterday morning BBC Breakfast showed the bloke doing a 24 danceathon - dancing next to Sarah ''the crafting queen'' from Dragon's Den. He had 3 hours to go and i thought he looked quite ill. Like he might actually drop dead!

That was it. That's all i saw of anything to do with it.

Laiste · 18/03/2023 16:28

Honestly i never watched it in the 90's either :/

Goodread1 · 18/03/2023 16:33

I am Susprised its still going ,

It's very tired and Contrived

About as funny as piles on the Arse,

It's not environmental friendly with plastic tat nose,

People struggling with cost of living crisis can't afford, it,
Just up against, it type of thing,

I have never found it funny at all,
From the start,

Way over rated....

JoonT · 18/03/2023 16:34

No. Frankly, I find most TV unwatchable these days and am very close to getting rid of mine.

(I will be watching Bake Off though!)

Goodread1 · 18/03/2023 16:35

No I don't watch it,

It's Crap L.o. l and 😃

the80sweregreat · 18/03/2023 16:35

Gethin Jones did look exhausted.
24 hours dancing is crazy and I bet they are persuaded to do it this rather than just volunteering for it ! ( apart from the Ritchie guy and his 'drum a thon , ' which he clearly loved, but then he was sitting down !)
Sara Cox did the dancing one too one year

FredaFox · 18/03/2023 16:35

The evening show was so much better back in the day, actual comedians doing actual comedy
Now it's just the same old presenters announcing things with stale jokes

Goodread1 · 18/03/2023 16:36

Ant & Dec co ect

Utter Crap
