To be awake dreaming about my millions

DisneyPrincesss · 04/03/2023 04:50

National Lottery have emailed with news about my ticket and of course I can't get online yet. Deep down I know it's £2.70 but I am dreaming.

What would I do with £115m....

New houses for me and my sister, awesome cruise for my parents. Sort out my partner's family with houses etc. I'd want to keep it quiet but would help out a few key friends.

Gorgeous wedding for me and my partner. Not big, neither of us want big, but luxurious. DisneyWorld trip.

I'd also make a big difference to the deprived town I live in and the amazing charities that operate here.

What would you do?

A decent sized house in the countryside with lots of land (about £1.5m)
A Landrover
a 6 month driving trip around the USA
£1m each to family members
Disneyworld with granddaughter
private school for grandaughter (if her mum agreed)

With the rest id set up a centre for autistic people with art classes, cooking classes, pet therapy and life skills classes

704703hey · 04/03/2023 06:02

I hope it's more than £2.70 😄

SeaDee · 04/03/2023 06:06

I'm wide awake, just checked my emails and saw I had a win on the EuroMillions so had a look at my account and it's £2.70. I would say just keep dreaming and don't check!

Mummadeze · 04/03/2023 06:07

I would start my own design company and I would buy and my partner and I separate houses near each other so we could separate amicably and still both provide nice homes for our DD. I would do a big trip to Japan with my DD and find the best school option for her autism. I would also like to treat my friends to lump sums.

MavisMcMinty · 04/03/2023 06:10

I shall buy an enormous estate, maybe even a small county, and set up a self-sufficient doomstead with a load of hippies for the impending apocalypse.

gettingolderbutcooler · 04/03/2023 07:13

Excited for you!!!!

Led9519 · 04/03/2023 07:17

Mine was £2.30. If you win the jackpot care to share? I’d already spent my million mentally before I could log on!

PurBal · 04/03/2023 07:27

We need to include a holiday OP!

I’d pay off the mortgage, possibly move. Not to a huge mansion but our ideal next step. Get everything done as I’d like (bathroom, kitchen, decoration etc). Replace our almost 20yo car.

I’d then invest the rest and live off the interest. Yes I would donate to some charities close to my heart but I’d want it to be a sustainable annual income for everyone. I’d include private healthcare and schooling to reduce pressure on the NHS and school system.

Anapana · 04/03/2023 07:29

I’d buy all of the above plus a steam train because I like them 🚂

Weedoormatnomore · 04/03/2023 07:29

Good luck hope you had a lovely dream about it either way.

Moredarkchocolateplease · 04/03/2023 07:36

Ooh I always daydream about this.

We are very lucky, we have an amazing house. I think we would create a charitable foundation with the capital to generate more donateable amounts to other charities.

And I'd buy a whole new wardrobe from Me&Em, go on a yoga retreat, get thin, and spend my days gardening.

Pineappleredwine · 04/03/2023 07:38

How much did you win OP?

Jugglingitallmum · 04/03/2023 07:40

Hahah I do this all the time

DancingDaughter50 · 04/03/2023 07:47

I would keep it secret and do discreet one off gifts to people on my mental gift list.

I would also do discreet gifts randomly at various points. But I'd definitely keep it secret because it's never enough and people get bitter.

NameChangeFor2023 · 04/03/2023 07:48

I ready somewhere that if it's just a generic email, it's not a significant amount.

I'm still waiting to test the theory but it's stopped me dreaming and checking frantically whenever I get the email 😅

furryfrontbottom · 04/03/2023 07:52

I don't think I would need a new house, as I would be on holiday for the rest of my life.

IfYoureGonnaBreakMyHeart · 04/03/2023 07:56

Just had the same email. I won £2.30!

DisneyPrincesss · 04/03/2023 08:05

Two pound effing thirty for me too.

I read the emails are always generic 🤷🏻‍♀️

I feel for you ❤️ before i left my husband I'd have said the same thing. But we separated anyway and we're all doing fine.

Yes! No houses required! Children can have a private tutor who lives with us!

I'd set up a large community workshop space full of all sorts of tools and equipment ranging from woodwork, metalwork, pottery, kilns, electronics, 3d printers, .... etc. I'd have a materials store on site where you can buy or oder materials at cost for your projects,l. Make it a not for profit (probably loss making in reality) subscription thing (to deter complete time wasters) and staff it with people who have a real passion for creativity and pay them well. I love the idea of a makerspace full of the energy of like minded people. In my mind it's called "Create! Edinburgh" and if successful and if the lotto win was big enough to fund more it would get rolled out to other locations - "Create! Leeds", "Create! Bristol" etc.

Only stipulation on anything you invent or make that becomes successful is that your new (hopefully amazingly successful product) has the words "developed and designed at Create! Edinburgh" somewhere on the packaging.

And if by the end of my life I'd spent all my lotto money funding it (after giving to friends and making sure I'm very comfortable and my kids are set too) I'd be very happy.

Yes I'd certainly keep it secret other than a small circle I'd be so generous with there would be no need for bitterness.

£115m could easy bring in £5m a year in investment income. I wouldn't even know what to do with £5m a year!

I actually feel like it would be wasted on me.

I'd downsize to a smaller house in a more expensive, more beautiful spot and go part time at work.

I honestly can't think of anything else I want 😆

How lovely! Edinburgh would be such a brilliant place for that too. Lived there for many years.

I would pay back my selfless generous family member who is trying to help me. Get help for my friends ill daughter. Try to set up a homely womens refugee and DA centre as the nearest is many miles away. Private tutors for the kids and my friends kids. Stay in a lovely hotel in London and spend as long in the V&A as I want, alone. See private doctors and get well. Horses for everyone! Spoil anyone I want. It would be lovely to be a fairy god mother with the money.
