To be awake dreaming about my millions

DisneyPrincesss · 04/03/2023 04:50

National Lottery have emailed with news about my ticket and of course I can't get online yet. Deep down I know it's £2.70 but I am dreaming.

What would I do with £115m....

New houses for me and my sister, awesome cruise for my parents. Sort out my partner's family with houses etc. I'd want to keep it quiet but would help out a few key friends.

Gorgeous wedding for me and my partner. Not big, neither of us want big, but luxurious. DisneyWorld trip.

I'd also make a big difference to the deprived town I live in and the amazing charities that operate here.

What would you do?

@Butterlover1 that sounds fabulous! I would invest some of my win to develop more "Create" sites. Stained glass too. All the things you want to try but can't due to material costs. I'm getting quite excited about your imaginary not-for- profit🙄!

whiteroseredrose · 04/03/2023 08:33

I'd buy lots of land for rewilding. And retire!

NellietheElephantpackedhertrunks · 04/03/2023 08:33

I’m not too sure what I would do with mine (apart from freak out with the responsibility!). I think I would consider buying a large posh house (think country pile) but then that wouldn’t be very cosy and we would be rattling round it. Maybe a couple of more normal houses for BTL and then the DCs could have them when older.

Of course, we would have the best of everything and amazing holidays, and we would both quit work without a backwards glance 🤣

2023Hope · 04/03/2023 08:34

I’d buy my sister some new knees and a gorgeous house and enough in the bank to not ever have to worry about money.

I would give my best friend a life changing amount of money so she can leave her husband and do whatever she wishes.

I’d go to as many F1 races around the world, in style, that I fancied.

Obviously give my two adult children whatever they needed to have a money free life.

Private healthcare for family.

A gardener!

Betque · 04/03/2023 08:35

I know someone whose aunt won over a million. He told she received the normal “you’ve won a prize email” and thought she’d won a lucky dip. I love that nervous anticipation and hope just before I log into my account, knowing my life could be changed. Maybe one day!

@Butterlover1 if I ever win big, I will be in touch. Love, love, love your plans.

GoldilockMom · 04/03/2023 08:36

Butterlover1

You don’t need a win, you need a grant! Apply for lottery funding - it’s all about community!!

Bobcat246 · 04/03/2023 08:37

I won £3.90. Rich beyond my wildest dreams...

GoldilockMom · 04/03/2023 08:37

I would give my best friend a life changing amount of money so she can leave her husband and do whatever she wishes

Make sure she’s divorced first!

MissMarplesbag · 04/03/2023 08:38

I'd pay for my mate to divorce his scheming partner so he can be free and then buy him & his dog a house by the beach.

Lamelie · 04/03/2023 08:41

£2.30 here too.
Heres what I’d buy if I won- it’d keep me busy!
Retreat building project

MissMarplesbag · 04/03/2023 08:41

@2023Hope I’d buy my sister some new knees.

I love this sentence!

RedCarsGoFaster · 04/03/2023 09:02

With £115million, I'd buy up as many houses as possible in my Cornish hometown to be rented solely to locals / people with a local connection at a lower than market value.

I'd love to basically set up a small housing association like that, but also look at a way to do it as "rent to buy" for the occupants. It would be a wonderful, altruistic ideal, but I've no doubt the practice would be much harder!

RedCarsGoFaster · 04/03/2023 09:07

Oh, and I'd fix my terrible teeth, go on a 6-12mth spa retreat to lose weight and fix my stupid brain, pay for my best mate to have the best PTSD therapy in the world, pay for my Dad to have his hips done, pay off the mortgages of as many mates and family as possible (about 5 of them I think), give the non-home owners money for a house (about 6 of them), money in trust for all the nephews, and give money to at least 30 animal shelters. Obv.

And I'll be living in the nicest house in my Cornish town when I'm not on holiday 😂

GnomeDePlume · 04/03/2023 09:12

I would set up a summer hobby club so that children can spend the summer doing their hobbies/learning new ones.

Fees would be nominal (as PP said, to deter the timewasters) but would cover breakfast & lunch. All equipment, tools and materials provided.

Staffing levels would be high with specialist play leaders for the breaks.

The hobbies could be craft based, musical, cooking, coding. No experience required.

I would also fund a face to face 'levelling up'/'entitled to' centre that people could go to for advice and also practical help. The aim of this would be to help people access the services/funds/support they are entitled to but can't access because they don't know what is available or how to access it. Kind of Citizens Advice with knobs on.

DisneyPrincesss · 04/03/2023 09:18

I love how many people would be helping others ❤️

I absolutely have a mental plan as to what to do when I win the lottery 👍

I will give my lovely parents, brother and my best friend a million each, pay off my debts/mortgage, pay my daughter's school fees in advance, buy a big house and several to rent out and then spend my life on holidays (with my daughter and parents and best friend) 🥰

PrincessHoneysuckle · 04/03/2023 09:27

This was me last week.£3.50

Yes! I hadn’t thought about that !

I'd buy lots of land in areas likely to be targeted by developers and refuse to sell.

DilemmaDelilah · 04/03/2023 09:50

I frequently dream about how I would spend my millions! I used to find beautiful country houses to move into... but as we have both become older and more decrepit my dreams have become very much smaller. ideally I would like to find a nice plot of land near the child who lives in the same area as me and have a fabulous one storey architect designed house with indoor pool built for me, if I could find any land in the right place, but failing that I would buy the house we are attached to and have them made into one fabulous house, and the garden made lovely. I would put a small indoor swimming pool at the side of the house, accessible from inside, and we would have a lift up to the bedroom floor. I would buy an apartment in the city where my daughter lives, and a couple of holiday homes, a tiny one by the sea and a nice villa with a pool in Malta. I would give nice amounts to all of our children and to our siblings. We would have a regular gardener and a cleaner, and an account with a taxi company. I would become a Friend of our local theatre and go to plays etc. whenever we felt like it. I would have fresh flowers delivered weekly and magazines and books monthly, as well as a daily newspaper. I think I would also like to have somebody to come in every day to help with whatever I wanted them to do. It might be sorting out the recycling, doing some research, booking plane tickets, making appointments, matching socks - basically I would want another me to help me. I would like a gastric band and some plastic surgery to deal with excess skin - private medical care for all my aches and pains. I want to have my hair done every week, I want my sheets changed every day and I would like my shoes made for me. Then.... I want to set up an educational trust for women like me, who have children but are on a very low income and who want to study so that they can improve their lives. I would also set up an account for our local foodbank with a wholesaler for a certain amount each month, so that the food bank can buy food staples in bulk.
That's a lot! You can tell I think about it frequently 😁

Biker47 · 04/03/2023 09:53

Won £2.30, how gracious of them to include a prize where you can't even afford to buy a new ticket with your "winnings".

Whenever I get an email I always spend some time on rightmove looking at the houses I’d buy… I know we won’t win the jackpot, but it’s nice to keep the dream alive for 30 minutes more.

If we did win the full amount, like Tuesday £126m I would:

Buy a nice house near where we are, so the kids could continue going to their current schools - that situation may change.

Buy a house in the country for weekends. I’d like to buy either a farm or some land near by so I could have a business to keep me semi active.

I’d look to buy two huge fields near where we are, that have been up for housing, and approach the local unis to see if they would like to be part of a rewinding project to monitor how the habitat changes over time.

A decent penthouse in London.

A remotish house in Oregan, I’d love to be able to spend plenty of time in actual wilderness.

A Villa in Ibiza.

A box for the local football and rugby teams.

Daughter wants horses, I’ve promised her she could have some if we won.

Tomeeornottomee · 04/03/2023 10:19

A world cruise while I wait for my dream house to be built. 10 mill in a trust for my GS to have when he's an adult. 10 mill each for my kids. Houses for family and closest friends. A new wing and staff for the local hospice in my mums name. A limo and chauffeur combo. Private healthcare.. worked out that should come to about 50 million and we would just live off the interest.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 04/03/2023 10:21

I like where I live but I would buy the pretty double-fronted house down the road, not least because it has off street parking unlike most of this road. That way I could keep my lovely neighbours who are also good friends. I would have a "Swimstar" pool in the garden and possibly hire a PT.

I would secretly (somehow!) help out a couple of friends in need and give some to family.

It would mean DH who hates his job could retire and volunteer full time for a local woodland project.

I would hire a personal chef so I would never have to meal plan again.

I would donate to a couple of small local cat rescues and to a couple of medical charities that are close to my heart.

Haven't bought a tickets for months mind...
