Anybody feeling sorry for Sarah Vine? She's lost friends . . .

Whinging on about Brexit which she has supported throughout. This has caused her to suffer damaged relationships. So she hopes Sunak's deal is a first step in repairing the vast damage that supporting the inane Brexit policy has caused. But no word of apology from Ms Vine. So please feel sorry for her. Poor thing. AIBU to cite Oscar Wilde? 'You would have to have a heart of stone not to laugh . . .'

No.

Can't summon up any sympathy for an unrepentant Brexiteer, someone who doesn't give a shit about the vulnerable and thought it was a good idea to marry Michael Gove.

Yep this.

She's a horrible woman who has made a living out of actively being horrible. Ick. I feel nothing for her. I mean, I wouldn't spit on her and I'd feel the same sympathy if she got some terrible illness that I would for any other random person, but overall, I feel nothing. She's just a genuinely bad person.

Springchicken75 · 01/03/2023 11:52

I stopped inviting brexit bores, either side of the equation to dinner a long time ago.

In Sarah Vine’s case I think she most probably had some really lame friends in the first place! She needs new friends.

My friends and I disagree on all sorts, but it rarely affects the friendship, we are adults and accept all points of view. Small minded people that can only tolerate their ‘truth’ would not be someone I would choose to spend my time with.

Sarah needs to broaden her circle and meet people that are open minded and chill. It’s good to hear different views and share thoughts that are alternative to your own, but the brexit thing has been done to death.
Divorce can also create friendship issues.

Start afresh Sarah.

She's made a career out of being a cow to women who are prettier or more talented than she is. So whatever she gets she deserves. With a friend like that...

SoCrossAboutThis · 01/03/2023 11:58

She also says brexit cost her her marriage. They were both brexiteers though weren’t they so I don’t understand why?

I see she gets some bitchy comments in about remoaners. Maybe it’s that sort of attitude which has cost her her friendships rather than differing political opinions

ShimmeringShirts · 01/03/2023 12:01

I don’t understand why I should feel sorry for her? It’s not anyone’s fault but her own that she’s lost friendships, you reap what you sow and all that.

nilsoften · 01/03/2023 12:07

Hate the ground she stands on - she supped with the devil and rained vitriol down on each and every one who resisted this national madness and what's more her and her evil husband, and Johnston knew it was a disastrous course on which to embark. There are no excuses, she is as guilty as fuck in her part of breaking this country, and I hope she rots in her own self-constructed hell.

Not even any contriteness or saying sorry or accepting it was a bad thing, just me.me, me - poor little me. She and hard man nut job Steve Baker can just go and fuck themselves, along with the rest of the so-called Brexit intellectuals.

MaidOfSteel · 01/03/2023 12:08

Its hard to feel sorry for someone so nasty.

Yep. May the shelves of her local supermarket be forever empty!

She won't be liking the Sun today - coked up Gove is with a young female this time maybe he swings both ways.

Sarah Vain is responsible for any mess she finds herself in.

Absolutely agree with this. She's made quite a decent living out of holding deeply unpleasant views and stirring things.

She has had a reasonably long time to rebuild after the end of her marriage. Presumably she is well paid and her children are adults so she is better off than many. She has also had plenty of time to find new friends. Perhaps she wants to rebuild the friendship with the Camerons. I doubt that will ever hapoen

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 01/03/2023 12:57

I remember her writing such an unnecessarily vicious article about Ed Milliband’s wife, Justine that she riled the normally urbane Michael Portillo on ‘This Week’ who gave her a good talking to about attacking other professional women and what decent journalism was.

BloodyHellKen · 01/03/2023 13:08

Well, she's had sex with Gove so yes, bit.

Also, it's a open secret in Westminster that he left her for a young (male) staff member so that must have been rough for her.

Mrs Sarah Swire, Tory wife and blabbermouth, summed up Ms Vine in her 'tell all' book a few years ago. Never seen any reason to disagree. We don't all get what we deserve but some of us, Ms Vine, deserve all we get.

I read Sasha Swires book and loved every page :)

This "agree to disagree" is absolutely fine and a good ethos, but only to a point.

There is a line where someone's views so massively contradict someone else's that the overlap in the Venn diagram is so incredibly tiny that it becomes null and void.

I feel like brexit is one of the things that treads that line.

MendaciousMabel · 01/03/2023 13:30

I think we can blame brexit for a lot of things but Sarah Vine being unable to maintain friendships really isn't one of them... 😉

LlynTegid · 01/03/2023 13:31

No sympathy for her, a lot for her children as even if the separation from her husband was genuinely amicable, it will have impacted on them. It cannot be easy being the child of any government minister or a high profile journalist, never mind both as your parents.

She lacked judgement so significantly that she married Gove. No sympathy.
