Well am I? Out in 4 with good behaviour? It just seems like nothing.

Yes he should have been given double this. At least he will be in the appropriate prison for his sex.

picklemewalnuts · 28/02/2023 18:41

Yes.

And the victims were described as vulnerable which I thought allowed a longer sentence. Aggravating.

AngeloMysterioso · 28/02/2023 23:20

YANBU it’s absolutely appalling.

nocoolnamesleft · 28/02/2023 23:25

YANBU. It seems a woefully inadequate sentence.

PerkingFaintly · 28/02/2023 23:30

Glad I'm not the only one who was Hmm at this. Kept thinking I must have misread it.

PerkingFaintly · 28/02/2023 23:30

Actually Angry is more accurate.

JaneorEleven · 01/03/2023 03:48

It’s appalling. I wonder is this minimum sentence is because if he was given more years, it could have been drastically reduced on appeal. I’m glad he’s being housed with his biological sex.

MichelleScarn · 01/03/2023 03:52

Of course it is, but what's to be expected when the favourite runner for replacing the wonderful Sturgeon as Our Dear Leader is still championing his rights to self ID as female?

AnyFucker · 01/03/2023 03:56

Oh, but isn’t he dyslexic ? A bit “vulnerable” himself ?

That of course explains the measly slap on the wrist for rape.

MichelleScarn · 01/03/2023 04:19

Oh shit yeah forgot about that @AnyFucker all of the dyslexic people in the land just unable to stop themselves violently raping.
How bloody insulting to try and use that!!

aweegc · 01/03/2023 05:57

I believe Bryson has gone to HMP Edinburgh. It has a women's wing. Is there confirmation anywhere that Bryson is actually in the male estate? I wondered this too after Bryson was moved from Cornton Vale.

It would not surprise me in the least of Bryson was in the women's wing because I have zero faith in our leaders.

borntobequiet · 01/03/2023 07:57

I was surprised too. Twelve years was what I was thinking.

Untitledsquatboulder · 01/03/2023 08:35

I've lived through 50 years of this shit and instead of becoming reconciled I just get more and more angry. Its not OK and those women deserve better justice.

YANBU in that anyone with a bran could reason it is grossly inadequate. But, on the other hand, with sentencing these days I’m really surprised they got any time at all. Most don’t, just a slap on the wrist and a few terse words and that’s the end of it supposedly.

HoppingPavlova · 01/03/2023 08:42

*brain not bran

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/03/2023 08:43

YA Definitely NBU. If I had my way rapists would get their bits sliced off with a rusty razer with no anesthesia, and a whole life tariff. Rape is a kin to murder as far as I'm concerned they kill a persons spirit. The only difference is is the body is still living.

Ginger1982 · 01/03/2023 08:46

He's eligible for parole after 4 years and then every year after if unsuccessful up to the last 6 months. Parole isn't just about good behaviour though. It's about taking responsibility for your actions, doing courses, and being assessed in terms of risk. So basically unless he accepts he's a sex offender and accepts he committed the rapes and does the programs, he won't he getting out any time soon. That being said, I do think 8 years was quite a low tariff.

gelatogina · 01/03/2023 08:46

It’s disgusting, four years per rape. 2 years with good behaviour. What kind of deterrent is that?

Neededanewuserhandle · 01/03/2023 08:47

YANBU - usually on threads about sentencing, some wonk turns up to patronisingly explain why such shit sentences are logical and proper and it's just that us dumb peasants don't understand unlike the very very clever people who dish them out. These people are oddly missing from the current thread.

Someone so vile and manipulative to try and change his gender to have an easier time in prison/access to women, is going to nod his head and ‘change’ and say all the right things to get out early as he can.

butterfliedtwo · 01/03/2023 08:49

This is why I always say there is no such thing as a justice system. It might be a legal system, but there is no justice there.

Unfortunately, that's exactly the case. People get angry at "wet liberal" judges, but they have to follow sentencing guidelines and his lawyers would be able to find similar cases, where the rapist had got a lower sentence. That would be a double whammy for his victims, not to mention the time wasted in court and money wasted, to boot.

Naunet · 01/03/2023 08:50

Women don’t matter, rape is barely a crime now it’s no longer a property law where a man has been wronged by having his property ruined. It’s all so fucking male centric.

Well, he's trans, i.e. part of the Most Vulnerable group in the world.
