Woudl you go on holiday to Jersey in the summer?

Just that really, I have heard from friends that it's beautiful and stunning place to visit and is takes your breath away with the scenery.

I quite fancy it but as it's so close to France, I'd rather just go there.

It is beautiful, as is Guernsey which I prefer. Sark and Herm are worth a boat trip to see. The islands do get busy during the main holiday season and flights are expensive, you aren’t guaranteed good weather though so it depends what you want from a holiday.

It has been several years since I’ve been to the Channel Islands so I couldn’t recommend anywhere but I do think they are lovely places to visit.

I'd like to and ive looked into it a few times. I used to go as a kid but we stayed with friends of my parents.
But almost all the self catering accommodation seems so much more expensive than other places in the UK and I remember looking for a campsite once and they were very few. Although obviously it's a very small area so i realise choice will limited.

Yes I would, and have done so ~25 times.

I think 'beautiful and stunning' and 'takes your breath away' are a bit OTT though. I'd go for 'pretty' and 'relaxing' myself.

It depends rather what you are looking for in a holiday however.
We like the bays, and the cafes, and the historical sites and the zoo and the model aircraft flying

Yes I would as I have lived there. Nothing gets too crowded as there is limited and quite expensive accommodation there. Lots of good restaurants but you have to book. Buses reliable and cheap and, if the weather is good, there are beautiful beaches.

We spent a week there in summer a few years ago (couple; no kids). It was great but we were blessed with lovely weather; am not sure how we’d have put the time in if it had been wet. It’s definitely interesting though- parts of it look like mainland U.K. but about 50 years ago.

No, it's very crowded and the accommodation is extortionate for what you get. It's also not that warm compared to lots of places in Europe. Flights and ferry are also usually very expensive. All in all you could get a much better holiday for much less money is what I'm trying to say (I lived there until very recently).

I've been three times. It's pretty but it can be cold, we caught the mistral once.

It was ridiculously hot last summer!
We like it normally precisely because it isn't usually mega hot.

If you want hot hot weather and cheap booze then Jersey isn't the place.

We've been a couple of times, most recently last summer. The island is beautiful with a great mix of touristy things, history, countryside and beaches. We stay in St Ouen as it's much quieter and the beach is lovely.

We went last year, 2 weeks camping with 3 kids. We were very lucky with the weather, it was glorious and we spent most days at the beach.
Laughing at people saying it's crowded - we usually go to Cornwall and found Jersey so so quiet by comparison, miles of beach with hardly anyone on them. The kids are begging to go back.
The only negatives - eating out and food shopping is very expensive, and if it isn't beach weather there's not loads to do.

@TeenDivided I don't drink so don't want cheap booze and I'm sure that isn't a major consideration for the OP either. I didn't say it never gets hot, it does sometimes, but often even in the height of summer it's really not that warm.

apart from

Elizabeth Castle, Mont Orguil, Maritime Museum, Hamptonne, Houge Bie, Corbiere Lighthouse, Ten pin bowling, Cinema, the indoor flume place, the zoo, St Helier & market, ...

As long as it doesn't actually rain for 5/7 days there is plenty when it isn't warm enough for the beach.

Do you really think it's not that warm? I find it consistently a bit warmer than where we live near the south coast. We were in T shirts in Oct half term once.

Actually @RandomUsernameHere is right. It isn't warm, and @wejammin is right too, nothing to do. Go somewhere else and leave it more peaceful for us Smile

It's lovely any time of the year (I have worked there). All of the Channel Isles are special places, really beautiful.

We did in in April with our then 4 month old. It was gorgeous. Deff recommend. Easy to get around, beautiful beaches, did the zoo, Elizabeth Castle and the war tunnels. Highly reccomend. Though do reccomend hiring a car

It's a special place, with an interesting sort of atmosphere and some great places. It's not cheap, compared to other holiday destinations. I grew up there until university, and went back regularly (latterly with young children) until my dad moved to a care-home near us on "the Mainland." Always found plenty to see and do.

It's warmer in winter and cooler in summer than the UK. OP was asking specifically about summer though. The population density of Jersey is about three times that of England so it is very crowded but obviously the beaches aren't as there are so many of them for the size of the island. I can see why that is appealing.

We love it. A bit pricey, but lots to do, gorgeous sea views, endless beaches and usually warmer than the UK.

We like July, we've tried September twice, but both times there were very high, stormy tides that limited both beach access and some seaview outside dining. If you aren't taking children, avoid summer school hols as it does get busy and e.g. beach car parks fill up.

And if you're planning to eat out in the evening over a summer weekend, book well in advance as we've been caught out before.
