To be slightly amused by a 22 year old updating his Facebook status as "I'm off to do my paper round"?

I've got a male fb friend who is 22 and one of his his frequent fb status update is "just off to do my paper round". This amuses my slightly - in a way I admire his lack of self consciousness about it.

Am I being too judgey?

Why should he be self conscious about it?

ToLongToCharge · 25/02/2023 03:54

You know you are being judgy unless ypu wouldn't of asked !

LikeAStar1994 · 25/02/2023 03:59

Paper round jobs still exist?!

TooBigForMyBoots · 25/02/2023 04:04

He must be well fit, papers weigh a ton these days. And disciplined to get up so early in the morning.

Bet Therese Coffey is as impressed as me.

stomachcramps · 25/02/2023 04:10

Another 22 year old acting like a 14 year old... does he go to the youth club after he finishes his paper round?

As with the other thread: 0/10

SittingNextToIt · 25/02/2023 04:32

Hmm are the two threads related ?!

Emptycrackedcup · 25/02/2023 04:34

I'm more surprised a 22 yo is using fb, let alone updating their status

ShandaLear · 25/02/2023 04:36

Is he actually doing a paper round or is it just what he calls his real job? Either way it’s quite charming and funny. In our house we always say, “How was your day at the cheese factory?” None of us work in a cheese factory.

This

donttellmehesalive · 25/02/2023 05:23

How frequently does he tell people he's doing his paper round?

Surely a euphemism.

BibbleandSqwauk · 25/02/2023 06:30

My paper gets delivered by someone in a car before 6am. I usually don't see them but occasionally I do and it's an older guy. I think far fewer people do get them delivered so a "round" is likely to be much larger than a few adjacent streets.

lljkk · 25/02/2023 06:32

My 15yo got up an hour ago to go do his paper rounds. He's making good money. I dunno, maybe a 22 yr old should brag about getting up daily at 5:30am to go to work. A lot of adults can't do it.

GoodChat · 25/02/2023 06:46

We used to have people in their 50s/60s deliver our papers. If it gives him a bit of extra cash, who cares?

Quite often - few times a week ? Dudu then think about the euphemism aspect . You could be right.

His I think is in the afternoon given the timing of the updates

Ah to be fair - could well be

No I did see the other one - and that did make me think of thins one abc prompted me to do it - but face is I've been wondering about this for several weeks now as the fb updates amuse me. I'm tempted to write "are you 15?" In a comment underneath but don't, because I don't want to offend him - seems like a really decent, straightforward bloke - and I don't want to make unnecessarily nasty comments to anyone

Lol I did see the other thread - but I've been wondering about this for ages and did wonder if AIBU being tempted to write "are you 15?" Under the Fb statuses! Of course I never would !!

Is he lying about his age perhaps? It’s a bit sus for a 22 year old to have a paper round. Especially when all the news is online or on phones these days.

Could be .. but feel he has a straightforward personality- so doubt it. But he could be.

I still deliver papers OP. Local free one once a month. I do a bit every week mine.

I get paid to walk.
walking is my exercise.
getting paid to exercise is win win.

dew141 · 25/02/2023 07:23

My hairdresser (in his 40s) does a paper round to earn some extra money and I guess you can get it done early before your main job starts.

Getting paid to exercise? Sounds like a plan
