I get it, of course with a young family. I've tried going through the recall procedure but it's still Canade, Mexico and USA. It adds to my feeling that European ones are made elsewhere. British standards are far more stringent than elsewhere. It's not recalled in any UK papers which is normally what happens. The online papers will put any report up to fill space.

The number offered is also not recognisable from the UK. This makes me thinks its not geared towards us. Not yet anyway...

I still have the box sent from Amazon. It still also has the original label that shows it was shipped to Amazon from Etekcity Group UK in Helmond The Netherlands. So it was manufactured in the EU not the US.
Probably why Amazon assured me the UK models are not included in the recall.

I found this tweet reassuring also.

Scaremongering by press.
UK voltage is different.
Contacted Cosori.
Problem is with those sold in Canada, Mexico and USA.

Scaremongering by press.
Recall only applies to those sold in Canada, Mexico and USA.

@Llouise55 - agree with you. My webchat with Amazon a day earlier, I was advised not to use it. And I’m not the only one…. very confusing messaging. Amazon/Cosori should issue an official statement to the UK national press one way or another rather than carefully worded postings via social media.

Llouise55 · 26/02/2023 18:46

That's interesting because in my webchat today, they said the opposite

Yeah I tried this too. I’ve just done a return through Amazon instead. I’ll drop it off at the Post office tomorrow in a box I found that should I hope fit. The actual box is outside…wet…I was waiting to put it out for the recycling lol.

I will rebuy it in a month if nothing comes of this. Just to be on the safe side. Otherwise I’d be paranoid and just stand and watch the bloody thing cook! 😂 Mine does have a really bad burning plastic smell when I use it and before all this happened I was already a bit wary of using it xxx

Report this to Trading Standards and contact Which? Amazon will soon sort themselves out. I wouldn't be using the affected models, it's likely the exact same thing with a rewired plug and it's not clear what the issue is.

Why would you report to trading standards there is nothing wrong with non USA models.

Marmalade43 · 27/02/2023 17:07

Uk models have a totally different electrical system. The model number is irrelevant if you have a European model.

Notmum95 · 28/02/2023 16:13

From Cosori themselves

Hi there,
Please note that this only applies to the US, Canada, and Mexico. If you own an EU/UK product, rest assured that the design and voltage supply are different from US products, so your unit is not under recall. You may continue to safely use your COSORI appliances.

kraygbyll · 28/02/2023 23:10

I emailed Corsori as I had an air fryer with one of the recalled numbers.

They replied: If you own an EU/UK product, it doesn't have the same safety risk as the US ones as the EU/UK products work with a different voltage supply from US versions, which the potential risk is related to. So, the EU/UK version products are not involved in this recall program. Please rest assured to use it.

Effymay · 01/03/2023 08:43

I contacted Cosori and they confirmed that UK Cosori models are not affected by the recall as they have different wiring and different voltage.
