To ask if you've tried Bumble BFF?

I've signed up for Bumble BFF and have paid for a week of premium usage. This is an app that let's you connect with other women for friendship (Bumble is a dating app - Bumble BFF works the same way but for friendship).I do have some friends but would like to make more, especially as most of my friends don't live locally.

There seems to be only one other woman in my town who's using it but we met up for coffee and she's really nice. We're going for a dog walk together tomorrow to see if our dogs can make friends too 😊. So it's going well but I just wish there were more women using it. Have you tried it? If so how were your experiences? Do you think it's strange to use an app to make friends or a good idea/worth a try?

I have. I met one local lady who was lovely but she got made redundant and didn't want to socialise much. Then I met a lady for a walk who talked at me for 2 hours. Then I met another lovely lady who I clicked with and we are going on holiday together this year. I met another lady who was lovely face to face but then her entire conversation online turned to Internet dating with no questions about me at all and now she has gone quiet so not sure what is happening with that one. And I had 2 that I didn't take further - 1 who wanted to message all day everyday and another who wanted to offload her problems onto me from the second message.

It's been fun though and 1 really good friend is good enough I think! I will still keep going for a while longer while I am still enjoying it

FairlyOddParents · 08/02/2023 20:10

I haven't but I did use Hey!Vina for a while while it was going and I made one good friend from there.

Also tried peanut but didn't get on with it.

I may have to download Bumble BFF now and give it a try.

HaroldTheStallion · 08/02/2023 20:38

That sounds really good @Cheeseandlobster and hopefully the woman who was made redundant will find work and wish to socialise again.

I definitely recommend giving it a try @FairlyOddParents .

I haven’t but my cousin did as she moved to the UK from overseas, she’s became friends, then house mates and is now best mates with a girl she met on there

TourmalineGiraffe · 08/02/2023 20:44

I haven’t but my sister has and she has made three new friends in the city she’s moved to.
Has been a positive experience for her.

Tribollite · 08/02/2023 21:39

I tried it a couple of years ago. I went on 'dates' with 5 women and am good friends with 3 of them now - the other 2 were nice enough but we didn't really click so only went out once or twice. Found it really easy, would definitely use it again should I need to.

It was a hell of a lot more successful my on-line dating experiences!

HaroldTheStallion · 09/02/2023 08:13

Such good results. I hope more women join in my area as one new friend is great but three would be amazing!

Has anyone else given it a try? Or has any questions about it?

WasteOfPaint · 09/02/2023 15:02

Can you see how many people are using it in your area before paying for it? I imagine it might be quite low outside of big cities.

HaroldTheStallion · 09/02/2023 18:22

Yes you can, @WasteOfPaint . The friend I've made from it so far lives in the same village as I do, about a mile from my house - but yes probably many more in cities.

I love this idea as I’m new to the area (moved counties) It doesn’t show up on actual Bumble though does it?! That would be tricky to explain…🫣

HaroldTheStallion · 09/02/2023 18:38

When you download the app you can select just Bumble BFF @Chooka15 . I don't think my DH would be too thrilled to find me on a dating site, either 😅.

I’ve signed up! Do I have to pay? Can you do the 3 monthly £7 a week but then cancel after a month or so?

HaroldTheStallion · 09/02/2023 19:22

I'm not sure about cancelling, @Chooka15 as I just signed up for one week for I think £16.99. I don't think you need to pay at all however - only of you want to get extra features.

It's great you've signed up - please update the thread with how it goes for you?

I will do, thank you for the post ❤️
I am constantly going back and forth to my old town to meet up with friends and know I will feel much more settled if I can build a friendship group here 😊

This reads like a marketing thread

HaroldTheStallion · 09/02/2023 19:30

I have no affiliation with Bumble, I justuse it, @SoulCaptain but the more people who sign up the better it is for everyone on there.

OP posts:
HaroldTheStallion · 09/02/2023 20:33

Plus if I'm doing marketing I'm clearly very bad at it considering this thread hasn't exactly set the world on fire!

Tribollite · 09/02/2023 20:37

It does read like a marketing thread. For the record, no need to pay for premium subscription, you can use it perfectly well for free.

Is that right? I've just signed up and it seems like I can't actually connect with anyone without paying.

Tribollite · 09/02/2023 22:28

Maybe it has changed - I haven't used it for a couple of years.

ForestLilac · 09/02/2023 22:31

Can you use BFF and dating at the same time? Or are they two different things?

LeafHunter · 09/02/2023 22:34

Haha I totally agree.

No, you definitely can use it for free, you can only connect with people who swipe on you too.

So a) make sure you've put some effort into your profile and b) spend some time swiping through and picking people you'd like to connect to.

HaroldTheStallion · 10/02/2023 06:45

You can use them both at the same time, @ForestLilac . I just use BFF but in the app I can press a button to switch and dating comes up.
