To not go to this beautician for this reason

I have a beautician local to me who is very handy to go to and does a good job but the way she advertises her prices really annoys me and makes me not wanting to go. Basically her prices are for each eye, not both for things like lash lift, eyebrow dying etc but who on earth only gets one done at a time! It caught me out the first time I went and she asked for double the amount I thought it would be and then she explained why.
Am I the only person who thinks this is odd?

What was her reason?

Nocutenamesleft · 07/02/2023 15:00

That is madly odd!!!

Hahahah. Ask her who has one eyebrow done?!?

ChilliBandit · 07/02/2023 15:01

That’s really odd and would annoy me too. I think that’s really cheeky of her actually. Reel people in with lower prices then charge double. There is such variance in prices for these services between practitioners too that it wouldn’t be immediately obvious it was too cheap.

I expect any price listed for eyes, eyebrows, nails, waxing of legs etc to include both.

Pippa12 · 07/02/2023 15:02

This would annoy me. It’s misleading. YANBU.

PumpkinDart · 07/02/2023 15:02

That's weird, how comparable are her prices to other beauticians (2 x eyebrows with this person Vs other places).

TidyDancer · 07/02/2023 15:04

That's very weird! Does it actually say anywhere on her advertisements that it's only for one eye or one lash? It sounds very much like she thinks she's found a sneaky way to rip people off. She wont get any repeat customers so either she's a bit thick or....nope that's it.

underneaththeash · 07/02/2023 15:16

Maybe someone has pulled her up for discriminating against people with unilateral eyebrow aloplecia?

Florencenightingalewasfab · 07/02/2023 15:28

I've never seen anyone with only one eyebrow done - can you imagine " do you want both fine?.No, just the one eye please"

Does she ever do BOGOF?

😂😂😂

MangoBiscuit · 07/02/2023 15:40

What if you have a monobrow? I mean, techinally it's just the one eyebrow...

Daisypod · 07/02/2023 15:42

I was too shocked to say anything when it was explained.
It is cheaper than most but not 50% cheaper.
And no I've never seen a bogof!

It's really annoying as it would be really handy as only a few doors away from me so I could go when toddler sleeps (dh works from home)

Daisypod · 07/02/2023 15:42

Oh and no it doesn't say anywhere on the price list /adverts that it's just for one eye!

Florencenightingalewasfab · 07/02/2023 15:44

On the other hand ( or eye) I supposed it's the best pricing to have if you're a minion.......🤣

purplecorkheart · 07/02/2023 15:45

That is really cheeky and underhanded, She clearly wants to appear cheaper or not as expensive as other salons. It certainly would put me off tbh. Does she also price manicures by the finger?

Maybe the first appointment is half price but after that double because she's created two eyebrows?

007DoubleOSeven · 07/02/2023 15:52

What happens if one brow is much hairier than the other?

I have seen that but only where people have false nails painted like works of art and it must take the nail artist hours to do each one or they have embellishments added but not to all the nails. Normal manicures/pedicures though I expect all nails to be done for the price!

Blossomandbee · 07/02/2023 15:54

That's madness! If she's not stating it clearly on the price list then that's being deliberately misleading!
I guess the reason is to get people booked in thinking it's a good price, then hoping they will love them so much they won't mind paying double once it's done!

FlickyCrumble · 07/02/2023 15:56

It would be interesting to see the wording in the advert. If it’s in any way misleading then someone will end up reporting her to trading standards.

Florencenightingalewasfab · 07/02/2023 15:58

But what if they only have enough / only stipulate they will only pay for one eye afterwards?

GoodChat · 07/02/2023 16:00

I wouldn't use her because I wouldn't trust her.

I wonder whether it's a tax fiddle where she's only declaring one appointment cost or something.

Catspyjamas17 · 07/02/2023 16:00

Leave a review to this effect on Google.

And/or comment under her FB posts "Just checking - is the price quoted for one eye or two?...That's odd, why would you get one eye done?"

VainAbigail · 07/02/2023 16:02

Good job she’s not a nail tech….
