To feel decadent for buying a reclining sofa?

No idea why the idea has been firmly in my head that a reclining sofa is decadent. But we've just bought one snd I can't wait for it to be delivered.

I expect my mum was sniffy about them in the 90s....

I love a bit of decadence. But my dislike of the clunkiness of those recliner sofas would outweigh my desire for decadence.

Yes, my mum was Scottish Presbyterian and thought that sugar in your tea was the height of decadence. She is probably turning in her grave...

You see I thought that too...but the one we are buying looks just like a normal sofa, then you press a button and the magic happens and it turns into a recliner. Press the button again and 'ta da!' no one would be any the wiser....

We’re on our second set now ( we did not wear the first ones out with antics, unfortunately).

Are you thinking of the ‘hurly burly of the chaise longue ‘? I used to have chaise longue, and I can tell you that the recliner is much, much more comfortable. Just be careful not to press the control during your decadence experience, you don’t want to be folded up…

Do you need space behind your sofa or does it sort itself out without needing it?

Nope no space needed behind. It’s not this one…it’s just a 3 seater…corner loungers would be beyond decadent….

What is more decadent is a corner recliner sofa with a USB charger along side as the push buttons to recline.

USB chargers in your chair are the best thing. Now I can charge my iPad or phone wIthout having a cable stretched to its max length across the room.

my friends 2 seater is comfy, but the three seater is uncomfortable in the non reclining middle seat.

I have a 3 seater and 2 seater sofa plus armchairs all recline except the middle bit of the 3 seater
We love them - only issue is you can only have one layout of furniture in the room which allows all to recline at once

My new long sofa can fit all five of us thanks to magic reclining. It is decadence but also lovely.

This is the difference between my parents and the in laws. MIL has a really uncomfortable chair but sits in it anyway 'to get use out of it' while Ddad has decided as he's going to spend most of his 80s sitting down he might as well get the deluxe recliner sofa with usb ports.

We have a huge corner sofa which reclines on 3 of the ‘chairs’ we now also have beds which lift up the head and feet with a remote control <old gimmer>

I bloody love ours. It’s a large corner group and both ends recline. It’s electrical so just press a button. It’s got a USB port too. So comfortable.
