Yep none at all. Gave up the wine, had nothing but healthy meals, no sugar or junk and walked to work for a whole month and the scale hasn't moved.
Feeling very discouraged at this point, especially as dh has lost several lbs and has so much more energy even though he's cheated by eating up the Christmas treats I was too strong willed to touch.

Well done! Maybe all the walking has built up muscle which weighs more than the fat you’ve lost?

thatsjanuary · 31/01/2023 16:02

Thank you, that's a good point I hope that's it.

How do you FEEL?

Go by that.

Echobelly · 31/01/2023 16:05

Maybe more intense exercise needed for weight loss? I dieted properly for the first time in my life for 3 months last year after I'd put on 1.5 stone during lockdown. I went back to the gym for the first time after 2 years as well (1 hour twice a week) and went back to mostly my usual diet after I'd dropped the 1.5 stone. In the 8 months since I've only put back in half a stone, which suggests that going to the gym is the main thing keeping the weight off.

This whole time I have been alternating between 20 min HIIT and yoga almost every morning, and although it's generally good for my wellbeing, it's evidently not enough in itself to keep the weight off.

Echobelly · 31/01/2023 16:06

@WineDup 's question is also a very good one!

thatsjanuary · 31/01/2023 16:06

I feel bloated and about the same size but I don't feel very hungry, I think I've stopped craving sugar now and started to only actually eat when it's dinner time. I only wanted to lose a stone I told myself that'll be easy.

I feel your pain. I spent 4 months with a PT last year - healthy eating, calorie defecit, increased steps, workouts, etc. At the end of the 4 months I was 1kg lighter and didn't feel any better. I've totally given up now 😢

You aren’t going to lose a stone in a month without doing something pretty extreme.

What do you mean by “healthy meals”?

Oh no don't give up, there must be another way.

I’ve done the same OP and have lost a tiny amount of weight but I did start Couch to 5k too which I thought would be awful but I’m (😱) actually enjoying it and look forward to runs. I’ve been using a FitBit too which helped with calorie counting. I’ve tried healthy eating before without doing that and while I was eating good stuff I wasn’t actually losing any weight.

I feel so much better though that I’m going to keep it up, but probably with the addition of wine.

Bubblebubblebah · 31/01/2023 16:16

Healthy doesn't mean weightloss. Lots of healthy stuff is calorific.
You should though feel bit better? Maybe intolerance with the bloatiness?

ArightFruityLoaf · 31/01/2023 16:17

I tried it once.

I was miserable and joyless.

I prefer my wine and the extra kilos.

Everyone should do what works for them.

thatsjanuary · 31/01/2023 16:19

What do you mean by “healthy meals”?
No processed food
Lots of salads
Jackets potato with tuna
Meat/fish veg and rice etc
All fresh and homemade.

I've never eaten breakfast but I've swapped lunch for a piece fruit and a coffee. And then one main meal in the evening.

TurtleTriplets · 31/01/2023 16:21

Did you weigh throughout the month or just at the start and end?

The week before my period I gain upto 5lbs of water weight and bloat up terribly. It could be hormones masking your true loss if you have only weighed in once.

thatsjanuary · 31/01/2023 16:23

I have these skinny arms and legs, no boobs or bum but then I have this awful protruding belly which makes me look pregnant especially after meals.

OP posts:
HareAndBear · 31/01/2023 16:26

Could you be pregnant? Or reacting to yeast or wheat? Sometimes I don't lose weight but the scales suddenly jump several pounds at once.

I was just asking because my partner gets really bad bloat if he eats too much fruit and veg. It doesn’t explain the lack of movement in the scales though.

Probably relevant is the fact I’m vegetarian so when we have “more veg” than normal, it’s a lot.

Echobelly · 31/01/2023 16:28

I have to say swapping lunch for a snack was also part of the reason for weight gain. I'd occasionally done short bursts of 5:2 diet which worked fairly well and I found I didn't miss lunch too much so dropped it for a snack for about 6 months, but I think I just snacked more because of that. It can be better to have bigger lunch and a smaller dinner, which is what I aim for now.

I also put everything on around my stomach - I never had a neat, trim one fortunately, but since having two kids I have had to give up tops or dresses gathered under the bust or I do look pregnant!

AppleKatie · 31/01/2023 16:29

You’re eating a bit of fruit and a coffee for lunch and then Jacket potato and Tuna for dinner? And nothing else? And exercising more?

doesn’t sound healthy at all? Perhaps see at PT/nutritionist. What’s your BMI?

BuffaloCauliflower · 31/01/2023 16:33

I've never eaten breakfast but I've swapped lunch for a piece fruit and a coffee. And then one main meal in the evening.

This isn’t healthy at all. Sounds like you’re not actually eating enough. As PP above said being slim with a bloated belly could indicate a food intolerance. Also are you actually overweight? The lighter you are the harder it will be to lose weight.

Quinoawoman · 31/01/2023 16:40

What do you mean by no results? Do ypu feel healthier? If so, that is a result.

Danikm151 · 31/01/2023 16:47

Looking at that… you weren’t eating enough.

your body still needs calories in order to burn the fat.

thatsjanuary · 31/01/2023 16:48

My healthy bmi is between 7stone 3 and 9 stone 10 for 5"2 so a year and a half ago I was around 7-71/2 sometimes a little underweight but I could always lose and gain regularly and now I'm 8 stone 5 but I can usually lose it in a couple of weeks if I have a bit of a binge like Xmas or a holiday but this time it's stubborn.
I have a Fitbit I usually do 10k but Ive done so much walking lately I only want to lose that last stone.
Being 5"2 I really do look all belly and the same wide as round so it's so out of proportion.
I really could pass at 7 months pregnant so I can't wear anything that not like a smock.
Also my belly is soft and smaller in the morning and hard and not squidgy in the evening so I don't know if that's relevant.

I don't know, I've eliminated gluten, no change, dairy, no change, tried low Fodmap, no change.
I've always had a massive belly after meals even when I was a kid whatever I eat.
