depends on your own pain threshold but its softer tissue than cartlidge therefore hurts alot less, when I say clamp i mean its like one of those tongs you use in a bbq 😂 I will try find a pic of what i mean. also I must admit it made me more "sensitive" down there so to speak when my DH messes with my nipple bar I get what can only be described as "minge twinge"

Toes are curling

I’ve had both of mine done twice and taken them out and let them heal over both times. Hurt quite a bit getting them done but afterwards was definitely worse. They’d catch on bras or my shower puff. They’d bleed sometimes, get sore around my period and get infected easily even with regular cleaning. The slightest thing would pull at them and cause a tear - one nipple still has a large visible scar on where the bar tore it so much. They lost all sensitivity and it’s only just starting to come back now 3 years after taking them out for the last time.

But, it’s my go to thing to do after a break up because I like the look so I’ll probably get them done again one day, go through it all again only to take them out again.

If you've had your clit done you'll be fine surely?

What was that like? Did they numb you?

There was a numbing spray didn't feel a thing

I can also confirm my nipple never went permanently bigger?

Had one done, didn't hurt, ached a bit till it healed and was better once i could use a bar rather than a hoop. I loved how it looked and felt. After a few years it got annoying and catches on lacy underwear and bras so I removed it.

PurplePastaBake · 23/01/2023 21:24

Can also confirm my nipples never grew while pierced 😂

Had both done, twice ( removed first time when BF), they didn't hurt at all and healed fine but after them getting caught on clothing over the years or by my hubby I ended up developing a fear and a weird sensitivity to the point I would feel sick. To this day I now don't like my breasts or nipples being touched despite them being removed.

This is what worries me !

I had one done twenty years ago. It hurt, a lot. You won't be able to lay on your front for a few weeks.

However I'm posting to make sure you are aware of the other complications that can arise after piercing. 10 years ago I developed a recurrent abcesdt in my pieced breast, which took hospitalisation and antibiotics to make it go away.
www.sciencedirect.com/topics/medicine-and-dentistry/nipple-piercing

Having recently had a child, I now find the milk supply in the pierced breast is significantly reduced due to the abcesses, which is indirectly from the piercing.

Please do be aware!

Thank you, my DC are all grown up and finished BF. But thank you for the info. X

Can I ask why? For the look or feeling? Don't they get in the way?

1982mommaof4 · 23/01/2023 21:28

For me it's the look

I had mine done but they never healed and I had to take them out.
Apparently it's advisable to have a bar piercing until they heal. A ring is always at an angle to the edge of the holes so constantly moving against it, stopping it healing.

Also have them pierced in warmer weather. The pain I felt as I left the piercers and went out into the cold and my nipple became erect!!! Wow doesn't cover it.

Funkypickle · 23/01/2023 21:33

Had one of mine of done at 16. Had it for around 6 years, hubby hated so I took it out. Clamping was the worst bit, they used a numbing cream. Healed beautifully and quickly. Had it changed professionally from the bar that was used to pierce it and had a thin hoop put in and it stayed until I took it out. Again, had it professionally removed.

Belly button was a different story. That was painful, a bitch to heal and had to have it done twice due to migration.

And, yes you can see it if wearing a thin bra or no bra.

Go for it, if you fancy it.

Bikeybikeface · 23/01/2023 21:34

I had one and it did give me the ick to think about. It never fully healed, it would be sore at times and took me aaggeess to change.
have I sold it to you?

Had both of mine done twice. Didn't hurt, healed quickly, but healed totally both times when I had to remove bars for medical reasons - I'm talking hours here..

Babsexxx · 24/01/2023 04:20

I have one done (didn’t find it painful belly piercing was worse in aspects of pain) I didn’t get the over sensitive feeling that the whole reason I got it done…. it’s ok for decoration I suppose.

PaulRevere · 11/02/2023 09:26

I love the look of pierced nipples but the long healing is really putting me off. I have very sensitive nipples and love having them played with, and I don't think I can put up with not having that potentially for months! But I don't see many people mentioning that in my research. Also no swimming until they're healed is a negative as well.

poweredbyplants · 11/02/2023 11:46

I do (currently not wearing them as pregnant with baby number 2 and I get vasospasm as a pregnancy symptom, I had them out for a year last time and they went back in fine). I did get them done about 12 years ago so my memory is fuzzy at best but cartilage piercings are definitely more painful. Healing can be a PITA though.

LlynTegid · 11/02/2023 12:16

Not had mine done, only ever spoken once with someone who had, they spoke about discomfort for a few days, that's all. They did not have children at the time.

TheWitchersWife · 11/02/2023 12:36

I've got mine done.
The piercer said mine were some of the toughest nipples she'd ever pierced. But they healed fine and look great.
I had them both done at the same time and it was mainly for my DH, but I think they look good too.
Really one of the least problematic piercings I've had regarding healing.

Thelnebriati · 11/02/2023 12:48

My mate did mine, I had inverted nipples and she struggled to get the clamp on. Not that painful, no worse than a tetanus injection. I had straight bars put in, they healed up ok. It took about 6 months before I could confidently take them out and put them back in.
It was totally worth it. I was able to breastfeed. And its made them a lot more sensitive.
