To think this is unacceptable - 1k Gold dummy!

So I can across this news story on FB, 'most pampered' one year old - who bathes in milk and honey and sucks on £1k gold dummy www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/real-life/uks-most-pampered-one-year-26005986 (Link here) there's so many red flags in here. First of, saying you're on benefits and then have all of these things?!

  1. A 1k Gold dummy?
  2. A nanny?!
  3. Milk and honey baths?!
  4. Gucci trainers?

Not being funny, but there's people on benefits struggling to feed themselves, and then theirs this woman parading her child around as if he's a child god? F that, I say!

I get people will be "it's their money to do with what they want" but it's people like this that make a total mockery of the benefit system.

Not to mention, wholly unhealthy relationship, saying they'll be in bunk beds once they're too old to share a bed? Am I just...not getting it? That kid is going to need therapy.

Maybe don’t believe everything you read on garbage ‘news’ sites.

I've seen this on a few news outlets. Just because it's in the press and you don't like what they're reporting, doesn't mean it's untrue!

TrodOnLegoAgain · 18/01/2023 14:30

This woman is in the papers every few months with similar stories eg Christmas metro.co.uk/2022/12/04/uks-most-pampered-toddler-gets-2500-worth-of-christmas-presents-17875645/ and last summer www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/mum-uks-most-pampered-toddler-7297648

I think she's just worked out that she can sell photos to the press on a regular basis and get cash for claiming she has "Britain's most spoiled toddler" or whatever. Take it all with a massive pinch of salt.

Usergjdksndjsn · 18/01/2023 14:32

oh do give over on the benefits bashing
if that’s how she wants to spend her money, and get nothing for herself that’s her choice
she’s either a very anxious and paranoid worried first time mum who actually needs a bit of help and support, not to be exploited in a newspaper
or someone who is cashing in on the newspapers needing benefits bashing stories, and is probably making it all up for some cash. In which case fair play.

TooBigForMyBoots · 18/01/2023 14:34

That story is a load of shite. That dummy costs £13.44.

YABU @ADHDGal. Stop believing all the benefit bashing shite pedalled by grifters.

Toothpastestripe · 18/01/2023 14:36

Is it safe to bathe in milk and honey? In my mind you’d be stalked by wasps and other insects but is that actually the case?

Beezknees · 18/01/2023 14:38

They are probably fake designer items. You cannot afford those kind of things on benefits. Or she may get a huge amount of child maintenance, we don't know.

Emmamoo89 · 18/01/2023 14:39

Yabu

TooBigForMyBoots · 18/01/2023 14:41

Or she might pay for them by selling ridiculous click bait articles to the press.Hmm

SherbetDips · 18/01/2023 14:42

Why is having a nanny a red flag?

Why is having a nanny a red flag?

I think she means having the money to pay for one when she doesn’t have a job 🤷🏼‍♀️

SherbetDips · 18/01/2023 14:45

@Ihatethenewlook Ooh ok.

NewFoxOldTricks · 18/01/2023 14:48

shame they didnt proof read it before reprinting it eh?

Kasey, who previously worked as a dancer and model, says she used to believe she had no interest in having a child. However, after getting pregnant with Jareem in 2020, she quickly fell in love with the tot and knew she wanted to treat him well.
Meet one-year-old Jareem, who is said to be Britain's most pampered toddler. His mother, Kasey Akram, 32, says she loves spoiling her little boy - including bathing him in milk and honey and buying him a solid gold dummy worth £1,000 - and sacking a nanny who gave him tap water.
Self-described full-time mum, Kasey, who is on benefits, says she has spent thousands on her son and 'just can't stop'. A £750 Versace chain, a £925 diamond encrusted bracelet and a £1,000 solid gold dummy are just some of the possessions Jareem has.

I think that the explanation is in this couple of sentences:

"Whatever he likes, he gets and if I can’t afford it I ring his dad and get the money. I’m not working at the moment, I do all this on benefits and the help of my ex-partner."

We aren't told how much she's raking in on benefits, just that she's not working and has her benefits topped up by a presumably wealthy or stupid partner. If she's not working and doesn't have an income of her own it's quite plausible she gets some benefit money even if it's not a huge amount. Since none of the stuff she spunks her ex's cash on is for her she probably gets round any rules about assets.

I dunno, say she got knocked up on Xmas Eve 2020 and had an elective caesarian in Aug/Sept 2021, the kid would have turned one in Aug/Sept 2022 so still would only be 1 at the moment.

Its hardly benefits bashing, its a deluded muppet either making shit up for the newspapers, someone who is going to be in a world of debt, or has the father paying for it

either way, if any of it is true, shes raising a little spoiled arsehole

Sounds made up. Sacked a nanny for giving him tap water? You'd have to be a bit dim to believe that article.

fair point, but I'm sure I read this before....

he was reported as 'one' in July, surely he would be at least 18months?

and in this 'article' he is 2

GetYourOwnTeaTiger · 18/01/2023 15:05

That's nothing. Jareem has got nothing on my spoiled one year old toddler. He expects to have his own personal servant who spends hours every night holding his milk bottle in a way that he can see it even when he doesn't want to drink from it. And he uses each sleeping bag exactly one time before it gets replaced. He only gets bananas that are of the exactly right shape and size. He also gets daily massages with extra virgin coconut oil. Daily!! Extra virgin!!

All true!!

Daily Mail are you listening? I too have got a few stories to sell!!

StollenAway · 18/01/2023 15:06

If she cared that much she would be putting decent honey in his bath.

IM not sure what’s funnier, the story, the fact that some people believe it, or the fact that some people are trying to defend it.

Fleur405 · 18/01/2023 15:13

Outrageous!

ps: you should definitely believe all the things you read on the internet.
