Is this the new trolling?

Seriously… what is the point?

OP posts:
Seashor · 15/01/2023 03:46

I’ve just opened one and it’s bloody annoying! YANBU!

Belledan1 · 15/01/2023 07:14

It might be because you get that thing come up now regarding similar threads and they are not reading them properly that theyare old.

SlaveToTheVibe · 15/01/2023 08:51

Oh yes I bet it’s the similar threads section, I’ve almost fallen for that too

GlassBunion · 15/01/2023 08:57

It's interesting to note that it was from 2007 like the last time.

No, they literally spent an hour or so doing nothing but replying “YANBU” or “agreed” on mega old threads from 2007/08

Sweetmotherofallthatisholyabov · 15/01/2023 10:59

2007 isn't mega old 😂😂😂 it's like 5 or 6 years ago. Lol.

Mumdiva99 · 15/01/2023 10:59

Are they new to the site? Perhaps they don't know how to check the posts. Or wouldn't think they would have access to old posts.

I comment regularly and haven't looked this morning at the date of the posts I commented on.....just assumed they were new ones!!

2007 was 16 years ago.

not great at maths eh

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 15/01/2023 11:00

Feels like 7 years ago 😭

PAFMO · 15/01/2023 11:00

It's been going on for a while. There's a couple of Saddo trolls who do it, and then there's the "similar" threads thing which doesn't help.

BIWI · 15/01/2023 11:00

Who is the poster?

Is the same troll from a short while ago, all they did was revive 2007 threads and post trolling super long comments

BloodAndFire · 15/01/2023 11:01

I'm pretty sure that @Sweetmotherofallthatisholyabov 's post was a fairly obvious joke.

AngeloMysterioso · 15/01/2023 11:01

BIWI · 15/01/2023 11:00

Who is the poster?

They’ve all been deleted so I guess MNHQ concluded that it was a troll.

OP posts:
Orangepolentacake · 15/01/2023 11:02

I wonder if the troll was born in 2007. Would also explain the level of maturity (someone will come on here to tell me how mature their 15yo is)

DuplicateUserName · 15/01/2023 11:02

Because MNHQ refuse to lock old threads, despite being repeatedly asked to for years.

If an OP wants to come back and update there's no reason at all why they can't just start a new thread and link to the ancient one for reference, but HQ don't seem to agree.

So that gives trolls free reign to cause chaos by bumping them all up.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 15/01/2023 11:03

There's one particular dickhead on here who's got a bee in the bonnet about the fact that old threads aren't automatically locked after a set period of time. So to prove that the functionality should be changed to what the want, they regularly dig up old threads and post on them.

They clearly have more time on their hands than they know what to do with.

Now, now, this is Mumsnet.

You should've known people would take this reply seriously 😉

Even putting lol at the end doesn’t seem to give them a clue.

StubbleAndSqueak · 15/01/2023 11:07

I fell for one but now I'm having a lovely chat with another poster
Think @thecranberries is the poster @BIWI

That's because actual serious lolling has started to appear on the site. My (in the modern sense) irony radar has been malfunctioning for days as a consequence.

I’m genuinely worried that there are people who couldn’t work out that it was a joke…
