Is this the new trolling?

Seriously… what is the point?

OP posts:

I’m genuinely worried that there are people who couldn’t work out that it was a joke…

One thing that 25 (?) years on the Internet has taught me is that it is literally impossible to make a joke so obvious that a significant number of people won't miss the point completely and start telling you you're wrong.

Whoosh.

Mountainpika · 15/01/2023 11:31

At my age, the 1960s are yesterday.
And yes, people do take tongue in cheek posts seriously. I've been in 'trouble' when people haven't realised what I'm doing.

TaRaDeBumDeAy · 15/01/2023 11:35

I really don't see the issue with old posts. Why do people care? If the conversation can be carried on, who cares when it was started?

Because most people just reply to the OP if the thread is a long one, and it's rarely still relevant.

"Buy your child a potty with their favourite cartoon character on, if you're having trouble getting them to go on it".

Good advice, except the child's doing their GCSEs now....

It was a pretty nonsensical joke. Also - I have a stinking hangover

You want junk food for that and a hair of the dog. It's what Sundays are for.

OlleOskiFelle · 15/01/2023 12:11

I saw one last night that I'd posted on under the name I had then.
It freaked me right out!

MissisBee · 15/01/2023 12:20

If they locked old threads then you wouldn't get the classics like the woman answering her own question about buggies!

Belledan1 · 15/01/2023 12:37

AngeloMysterioso · 15/01/2023 10:57

No, they literally spent an hour or so doing nothing but replying “YANBU” or “agreed” on mega old threads from 2007/08

Sorry did not realise that.

👍🏻 I’ve had 4 toasts and now going for a roast

Bedofroses85 · 15/01/2023 12:43

Well, how difficult would it be to add the thread date to the forum's main page? Even if someone chose to purposefully comment on an old thread others will be able to avoid it. Now it's really hard to miss as you just see the topic on the top of the page!

Because I don't like wasting my time??

giving nappy rash advice to someone whose child is now probably egally able to have sex, is a bit pointless!

or Ad bing a poster to contact womens aid, the doctor, the school 15 years later usnt that useful....

DadANDPK · 15/01/2023 13:12

And the similar threads thing just begs for trouble.

I know it didn't cause todays bout, but I know it has caused others!!

BeenPurple · 15/01/2023 13:15

I’d guess they were either their threads from an old user name so easy to find some from the same era under a few user names and then did it to prove a point about old threads
