What do you buy a 40 year old man that only likes are football/ sport and who has everything he wants already?!

Short of spending thousands on a special bike he’d like or a motor home, I’m out of ideas!

Tickets to something - football, theatre, weekend away. Or a subscription to a magazine. Chocolates or beer.

KnickerlessParsons · 07/01/2023 17:10

Weekend away somewhere fancy?

DoNotGetADog · 07/01/2023 17:18

Just give him something. Why is everyone suddenly “gifting”?

Serialcatmum · 07/01/2023 17:25

@DoNotGetADog as I give him the remote or a can of pop. I’m looking for a gift. So I used the term gift.

if you don’t like that I used proper English then why don’t you just move on by?

I’d go with weekend away/holiday/tickets to an event- then you can benefit too 😂

Smoky1107 · 07/01/2023 17:29

I had a piece of art done with all his fave things. Didn't cost a lot at all, I can give you the details and a pic if you want to message me

FromTheFront2theBack · 07/01/2023 17:29

Experience type gift (sports, go ape, zip wire, racing car drive) perhaps combined with a trip away if you can find one in a good location?

Etinoxaurus · 07/01/2023 17:29

What’s your budget?
Is he a season ticket holder for anywhere or would like to be? We had some great weekends away watching FA cup matches because it got points towards a season ticket.
The tickets were cheap so look into where the matches are and arrange a weekend away around one and any other interests you have.

piglet81 · 07/01/2023 17:30

YABU to use ‘gift’ as a verb.

What about tickets for football/other sporting event but in fancier seats than usual?

It's not proper English, it's American. It grated on me too. Gift is a noun, not a verb.

Serialcatmum · 07/01/2023 17:34

Oh Sorry, I forgot I’m in AIBU where all the bitches come out to play.

Either make suggestions for me y gift my husband or go away. I’m not interested in debating the title of my post.

Thanks for the suggestions those that had made some. I might look for an exciting weekend away 😍

I don't use gift as a very personally but it's incredibly obnoxious to police other people's perfectly understandable English. Like it or not 'gifting' is used as a word in the UK now, you don't get to tell people to stop even if it does grate on you.

EarthlyNightshade · 07/01/2023 17:38

What are we voting on?

EasterIssland · 07/01/2023 17:41

I was planning a trip to Bali for my husbands 40th but it had to be cancelled… I gifted him a him few days after his 40th

I think I got him a drone but with all the restrictions I’d not recommend it. What about a gopro

HoneyIShrunkThePizza · 07/01/2023 17:41

A couple of new sex toys, a new shirt and a weekend away including reservation at a fancy hard-to-book restaurant. At least that's what I'd like (not that I'm a 40 year old man)

Serialcatmum · 07/01/2023 17:43

Might go to sex toys. He’d be mortified but it’s not all about him is it!!! 😂

Does he enjoy F1 Grand Prix? I've accompanied DH to Melbourne, Monaco and Spa (Germany, but we stayed in Belgium).

Singapore is another great place for a holiday.

IntentionalError · 07/01/2023 17:50

Assuming you have a decent budget for a landmark birthday gift, how about Premier League football tickets?
Tickets to a Six Nations rugby game with flights & hotel to make a weekend of it in London / Paris / Dublin / Rome?
It’s the Ashes next summer, how about tickets to a test match?
A weekend at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix? Alternatively, the races in Netherlands, Spain & Belgium are easy to get to for a weekend.
Tickets for the Cheltenham Festival or Aintree for the Grand National?
Wimbledon?

Dinner at a fine dining restaurant. Oblix at the shard is nice

Cnidarian · 07/01/2023 18:06

Got mine a knife making course

luckylavender · 07/01/2023 18:45

Since when has asking for gift suggestions been an AIBU in any case?

PacificallyRequested · 07/01/2023 18:47

Maybe buy yourself a dictionary before anything for your husband.

1982mommaof4 · 07/01/2023 18:48

My OH is 40 and also has everything. I have booked us a holiday in summer(kid free)!

1982mommaof4 · 07/01/2023 18:50

Why is everyone moaning about the use of the word gift 🤔

1982mommaof4 · 07/01/2023 18:50

Obviously not everyone...
