I've seen two posts on social media referring to Twixmas! When did this become a thing?

I prefer the term Merryneum 😆

GalwayShawl · 02/01/2023 12:03

I think it’s brilliant

Mumof1andacat · 02/01/2023 12:03

It's used to describe the days in between Christmas and New year.

Sukisal · 02/01/2023 12:03

Crimbo Limbo….

tinseltoes1982 · 02/01/2023 12:04

I prefer Chrimbo limbo! I thought Twixmas was some twee thing a couple I know had coined 😂 now I know!

I thought it was some special day where you have to eat all the Twix’s from your box of celebrations or something!!

Brightstar84 · 02/01/2023 12:05

I don’t mind Twixmas - guess it comes from ‘betwixt’ as in inbetween? Anyway…whatever it was, it’s over now!

MeinKraft · 02/01/2023 12:06

Shouldn't it be twixtmas 🤔

ThreeLittleDots · 02/01/2023 12:06

It's a made up word adopted by people too stupid to understand that it is still in fact Christmas, even up to and post NYD

It has been a thing for as long as I can remember. 🙂

Wishawisha · 02/01/2023 12:07

The terms for it might be new but the weird limbo feeling between Christmas and New Year isn’t.

Againstmachine · 02/01/2023 12:07

Twixmas is a bit shit unnecessary naming of a in-between period.

If I didn't know if imagine it would have something to do with the chocolate bar.

Betwixtmas would be much better.

This is disgusting, please let it not take off.

FT123456 · 02/01/2023 12:17

I generally thought this was about the chocolate twix when I first read... never heard of it until this post lol

I so wish it was this

the name though is unbearable twee.

LindaEllen · 02/01/2023 12:21

The first time I heard the word Twixmas was when my now-ex used it in 2009. I thought it was weird, and actually thought for a long time that he'd made it up as I hadn't heard it anywhere else.

I don't know why they have to come up with a word, as it's still Christmas!

NowDoYouBelieveMe · 02/01/2023 12:22

Phew I thought this was gonna be a literal day for chocolate bars, something like Pepero Day in SK!

FromTheFront2theBack · 02/01/2023 12:23

Honestly it's just a word OP and you obviously can work out what it means. I don't personally use any of these terms and get they're a bit twee but find the outrage at using them worse than the actual word itself.

Reading that back I realise I'm even grinchier than the original OP!

tinseltoes1982 · 02/01/2023 12:23

@SomeoneSomewhere21 haha ad gurus are missing a trick somewhere

OOOMMMGGGG!!!! This is brilliant!

It's the Christmas Gusset in our house but the Merryneum is a very strong contender!
