To be over the moon that my 7 year old said 'mummy'

DS7 is (generally) non verbal, ASD and severe learning difficulties. We get very very limited and occasional words. He has said daddy quite a few times and his brother's name.

Today while I was getting him out of the car he said 'mummy quick'! First time he has ever said it!!!!!!

Whoo hoo! That's beautiful Smile

Sindonym · 01/01/2023 19:15

That’s lovely - what a beautiful start to the year - my son was about the same age when he first said it and it’s still his clearest word (now an adult). ‘Pinch mummy’ and ‘ring mummy’ sound the same though so I have to see the sign to distinguish between the game of thrones style list or wanting to ring me 😁

It is a very special word, so pleased for you xxxx

Santancrap · 01/01/2023 19:17

A proud moment

my DS is the same as yours and it’s the little things xxxx

Lightsbonaza · 01/01/2023 19:19

I cannot imagine what that felt like, after 7 years. I’m so happy you got this beautiful present to kick off the year (and as a sign perhaps of all the good for the year ahead) ..

tiredmama23 · 01/01/2023 19:20

That’s great, I can relate, these moments are the best Smile

Colourfulrainbows · 01/01/2023 19:36

What a wonderful post :-). My son has additional needs and the first time he said I love you made me cry. ( like you he was older). To hear them speak means so so much.

The little things are the big things. What a lovely happy day for you both today. Xx
