Woman arrested in Birmingham for praying outside abortion clinic

How on earth can someone be arrested for silently praying?

Is there more to the story perhaps that is not being reported because if not I find this ridiculous and scary - what is the world coming to?

We can get arrested for our thoughts WTAF. Whether you agree or not with abortion this is just wrong.

The Twat was harassing and upsetting women who are ready probably in a vulnerable frame of mind. Just about sums up the hypocrisy of religious types.

Xenia · 26/12/2022 13:35

Even if you are anti abortion most people can see she breached the law. If instead she just walked down the street once for 3 minutes and prayed in her head she probably would not have breached the order., Even better she could just pop into a church and pray there. I am sure God would hear her in a church as well as on the street by the clinic.

Here 👋 yes that's never knew anything about exclusion zones - perhaps the news should be unbiased reporting as vastly misleading

Is this your first day on the internet?

She broke a legal restriction.
Maybe she should concentrate on doing something pro active such as helping the thousands of orphaned children. Or the homeless. Or all the children in care. Maybe should should go and visit those children and do activities with them, or take them food and gifts. Off the top of my head I can think of many, many positive and helpful things she could do. Doesn’t sound like that kind of person though.

Totally agree. If these protestors actually cared about children they would be looking to make life better for them after they were born, and voting for parties with policies that support vulnerable women and their children.

They are forced birth, not pro life. Total hypocrites.

Good

WildishBambino · 26/12/2022 13:43

And that barrister with the video? He qualified in 2018, isn't a criminal specialist and runs a business provides marketing, administration and clerking services for direct access barristers. He runs a youtube channel which is mainly about driving law (and getting out of parking fines) and moaning about Amber Heard. He's hardly Helena Kennedy!

thankyouforthesun · 26/12/2022 14:55

Before the exclusion zones came in some of the ladies from my (Catholic) church had an idea about going down to Marie Stopes to pray outside. I did debate and challenge them - Marie Stopes does many other procedures other than abortions, has saved the life of a friend of mine through gynae heathcare(is that not pro life?!?) and as MANY have reiterated on this thread, God hears all prayers, pray at home, in Church, you don't need to do it where you're planning to challenge someone else by it.
I don't know what they did in the end.

You are being ridiculous

Letitrainletitrainletitrain · 26/12/2022 15:08

As an aside Isabel has done a lot of good work to help women who want to keep their babies but feel unable to.

if you want to help women keep babies who feel unable to by praying in public, pray outside of downing street for subsidised childcare, sure start centres, a universal basic income, minimum wage that doesn't mean using food banks, lower living costs, child benefits for more than 2 children, a CMS that actually chases non paying dads, tighter regulations against self employed men not paying child maintenence, better support for parents of children with disabilities, more paternity leave for men, a better funded NHS particularly maternity care, counselling for everyone who needs it freely available, better support for pre and post natal depression etc etc etc

Oh, good grief. Will you listen to yourself? Do you really believe this preposterous nonsense?

BettyCake · 26/12/2022 15:12

It's not mothers killing premature babies @NewNovember

It's mothers making incredibly difficult decisions that they can't support cells growing inside them due to financial reasons, poor health, poor mental health, baby being conceived due to rape- to mane but a few. To compare it to someone cold-bloodedly killing a baby in NICU is highly disingenuous and an awful thing to say. You should be ashamed of yourself.

As someone who had a TFMR this is one of the most obscene things I have ever read on here

Thank you so much for your empathy and understanding.

Yes. All of this.

Guess when the two child policy was introduced? If you want to reduce abortion rates take your grievance to Westminster and leave vulnerable, individual women out of it. Fucking cowards.

@Hoppinggreen what do you mean what's the exclusion zone?

A lot of these clinics have areas that protestors, silent or otherwise, cannot be in. It's to protect the women using the services.

This women will have very much known what she was doing and that she shouldn't have been there. She would have known that he being there would make the lives of those women, many going through a stressful and/or upsetting time, worse.

You are absolutely ridiculous. An abortion is not comparable in any way. The pregnant woman takes priority over the foetus. And it should always stay that way

If you can't answer that sensibly yourself, using basic scientific knowledge, then no one in here can help you tbh.

You can control what you do with your own body.
Let other women have control over their own body. It's nothing to do with you what another woman chooses to do.

@NewNovember, she was there in the hope of being arrested so she could film it and lie about it. She's a sick fuck who pursues fame by harassing vulnerable women.Xmas Angry

Don't lower yourself, these types of people are worth less than the shit off your shoe.

Slothtoes · 26/12/2022 15:39

If she broke an exclusion zone around an abortion clinic on purpose to ‘pray’ ie to try to deter women and make them feel like shit, the this protester is doing it for worldly attention and not for her care for the the souls of unborn babies. God will listen to prayers from anywhere. This is an entirely venal action and is about politics. Obnoxious politics at that which cares fuck all for women and girls and everything for a misogynistic idea of the fetus in sacred isolation.

harrassedmumto3 · 26/12/2022 15:43
