I can't sleep and thought we'd get some cheer from this thread as it's been an absolutely horrendous year for many so wanted to know the good things that's happened to you this year, it can be more than one:-

After a difficult unstable pregnancy, my beautiful daughter was born at 36+4 days and was absolutely healthy with nothing wrong with her and we got to leave the next day.

I reconnected with an old friend in January after a minor fall out and we've actually become best of friends.

My mum has been diagnosed with autism which doesn't sound good but actually it makes so much more sense now and she has access to the support she needs.

My DH has been accepted onto a university course he's been wanting to do to kick start a new career.

So please feel free to share yours, feel like we could do with a positive uplifting thread Smile

Ringonrighthand · 25/12/2022 02:00

I got married and bought a home with my now husband ❤️

Crackof · 25/12/2022 02:02

I got a really important qualification and I'm going to be self employed as of next week really. Very exciting stuff.

Our missing cat came back after 2 nights (he's only 1 year old)

DS1 is acing his first year at a new secondary school, after a really tough time last year including trying to jump out of his window to kill himself.

We moved from an inner city flat without a balcony to a house with a large garden and pool (had to move 7000km for this...). DS2 now spends all his time outside and is as happy as larry.

Glitterblue · 25/12/2022 02:12

Had 2 hip replacements and can finally walk again

thejadefish · 25/12/2022 02:19

After 4 years of trying for DC2 he arrived in July. I lost my wedding ring but found it 2 months later (it had fallen into DC1's toybox/got lost amongst the stuff) I thought that it was gone forever I was so happy to find it again so counting it as a best thing even though I lost it this year too.

Oh, that is such a lovely one, so heart warming

great news about your cat as well!

mine is quitting alcohol and finally seeking and receiving treatment for my mental health.

it’s going to be a very good year this year, I can already tell.

limerentidiot · 25/12/2022 02:27

I have had some really awful things happen to me and loved ones this year. But I am also in the process of retraining, am starting a job in what could become a really good career, have made some really good new friends and have my lovely children around me.

Flowers @InvincibleInvisibility. I really get it.

Lovely to hear good stories from other PPs too.

704703hey · 25/12/2022 03:43

Some really lovely stories here, happy for you. It's difficult to pick the bright spots sometimes, isn't it?!

It's been a tricky year but perhaps getting scholarship for MSc. No major deaths.

Newmumtobetwentytwentytwo · 25/12/2022 03:58

Lovely idea! Congratulations on your baby 😃
My best thing is attached below!

ivykaty44 · 25/12/2022 04:05

My grandson was born
my son in law saved my dd life
i went on my own pilgrimage overland, travelled 3000miles

mummabear2023 · 25/12/2022 04:23

We found out we are expecting our second DC, it happened the first month of trying which was a huge shock since DD took almost 2 years to conceive!
DH got a huge promotion just after we found out which is going to help massively.
2022 has been quite a shit year for us other than that, we've lost a lot of loved ones, so I'm hoping 2023 is better

SpittinKitten · 25/12/2022 04:32

Got my hba1c down from about 120 to 45.

winteriscoming2022 · 25/12/2022 04:39

I finally brought home my puppy a week ago, 15 months after the death of my beloved 12 year old dog. I'd forgotten the fun ( and exhaustion!) of a new pup but she's bringing me so much comfort and joy.

WOW

well done.

I was diagnosed type 2 in May and have managed to get mine down and lost 2 stone in the process.

Nightwithhertrainofstars · 25/12/2022 04:44

I got pregnant with DC2 after a MC earlier in the year. It was pretty much my only plan for the year so thrilled that it has worked out in the end!

SpittinKitten · 25/12/2022 04:51

Thanks @sashh - well done to you too!
That's sterling work!

Hidingawaytoday · 25/12/2022 04:52

Love reading all these! Congratulations on all the babies, new jobs and pets (and everything else)! DD was born in summer '21 and the best thing about this year has been watching her grow up into a little toddler with her own cheeky personality and start learning about the world around her* 😍

*saying that... after a week of near perfect nighttime sleep she's been awake since 3 tonight so we're both going to spend Christmas exhausted 😩

user1019273703 · 25/12/2022 04:58

My little one starting primary school. So proud and watching them flourish has been amazing.

ShandaLear · 25/12/2022 05:11

My DD got great GCSEs and is really thriving and happy at college.

lionhead1 · 25/12/2022 05:14

This is lovely 🙂 I passed my degree.

TCMolly · 25/12/2022 05:16

I received approval for citizenship in the EU country where I live. Took 4.5 years.
I'm now a dual national so fuck you Brexit.
